Luckily football journalists have been weirdly obsessed with writing about him and his experience at Chelsea, so there's a lot of info to go on. I don't have the articles saved, but a few deep dives were done on the Athletic. Sounds like he couldn't handle some of cliques in the Chelsea squad and did not connect with some of the veterans. But at the same time some like Thiago Silva have spoken really highly of their experience. And then obviously he brought out the best in several youngsters. Some people have pointed to the transfer ban and how good the Chelsea academy is and downplayed it, but honestly it really hadn't been done at Chelsea for a while. The way he accelerated the development of several young players is impressive, no matter how talented they are. A guy like Mount was not destined to be the success that he is now; he's not that type of generational talent. For me this is the main reason I've gotten behind the idea of appointing Lampard. I'd be excited to see him work with Gordon, Gray, Dobbin, Godfrey, Branthwaite, Patterson.

I never wanted Lampard. His failure at Chelsea does not instill confidence for me coming into this situation.

But make no mistake, if apparently the only choice is between him or the guy that manages in Turkey or China and won a two team league in Portugal, I'm with Lampard all day.

No chance he will let us get overrun in midfield. He'll be great for Gordon, Branthwaite, Patterson etc as well. I'd have a semblance of hope if we got Lampard.

Our current defence is currently hamstrung by the wankest midfield in Europe tho. Improving the non-existent midfield should technically improve the defence.

We supposedly had a defensive, tactical genius in charge and we have been at our worst defensively with him.

Setting up a balanced team, will improve the defence and give them more space and time to be able to play the ball safely out.

No reason lampard couldn't see our defensive stats improve.

Did he fail at Chelsea though?

First season he got them in the Champions League under a transfer ban. His second season was a case of trying to fit in £200m worth of signings that he had no say in getting into his team, his second season he got sacked 11 points behind the League Leaders, if thats a bad season id take that every year mate.

His 'failure' at Chelsea is massively overstated in my opinion, usually by non-Chelsea fans ironically.

I've seen loads of tweets from Chelsea fans today, on the anniversary of his sacking, showing their appreciation for what he did in the time that he was there.

You think? Ancelotti camped the midfield in front of them because he knew none of them can defend. The been there and done the absolute lot manager saw what they were/are.
