We were founded from a Methodist Church on St Domingo's Road. They wanted to keep the youngsters occupied in healthy pursuits once the cricket season ended.

When men from other denominations showed interest in playing they changed the name from St Domingo's to Everton.

When Houlding got in charge, he brought a different element into the equation. Politically, sociologically and from his orange bent, he eventually found himself voted out by the more liberal, tolerant members of the Board. He was left behind at anfeld where he eventually set up his own outfit.

Everton has never been tied to any faith since changing from St Domingo's to EFC. However, we seem to have always welcomed southern Irish if they had ability. This was unlike the rs for a long long time.
Thanks for the info mate. Appreciate that ??

It’s all relative. Getting Derby into the playoffs is essentially us getting into Europe. His full Chelsea season was class, second had one small rocky part.

If failure is not winning a play-off then us losing to Norwich City needs a new word.
Pretty sure we sacked the manager who lost to Norwich, so its hardly an endorsement.

Look, to be honest, I would be ok with taking a chance on Tory boy.

Young hungry manager with something to prove, plays attractive football, ticks a lot of boxes for me, im not against him, put it that way, but he failed at Chelsea and to be really harsh, he failed at Derby.

People big up ya Man Potter at Brighton, cos he manages to get Brighton to 9th, thats really not impressive, now getting Brighton into the Champions League, THATS impressive.

I mean I don’t rate Potter at all so don’t think he’s my man. I’m also not saying Lampard is amazing just find the word failure a tad harsh. I don’t know if Derby were expected to get promoted that season (a prerequisite to fail something).

I fail to see what that supposedly shows? you can question a manager without calling them fat, pig, scum, smearing "GET OOT" on a bedsheet and demanding their head.

And thanks for highlighting I was critical of Benitez in that post which strangely many on here act like I never questioned him once as a manager :coffee:
Not calling someone fat isn't the same as being loyal.

And you didn't question him as our manager, or his credentials when he was hired. You only questioned him to save face when it was inevitable he would be sacked and you took a staggering stance of saying you had never really wanted him and been on the fence.

Ya man is just an expression.

But to be honest, we aint Chelsea, they sacked Carlo for finishing 2nd, they kinda have different standards.

I have no idea about Derby or what they expected that season, I do know that they went all in and are now totally goosed, but thats not on Fronk.

Being disloyal comes in all forms, and there's plenty out there of you being "loyal".

I never got the financial thing. He brought in a few loans there and a couple of perms but generate more through sales. Not privy to the workings of Derby but never understood why the money thing is aimed at him.

Even though he’d been pining for him for years
