2021/22 Frank Lampard

For me I've seen enough of Lampard now to say that if he manages to keep us up based on actually doing it by merit I would give him one more half season to give a chance. But if we go down he goes.

Or even if we stay up but only stay up because Burnley and Leeds fail to win then I think he should go. He's made too many mistakes. The latest of which the failure to capitalise on Watfords understrength side and then risking our safety on two tougher games at home.
I take the view that he was brought in to keep us up, so if he does he earns a crack at revamping us. If we go down, though, I see no reason to reward failure. All the talk of him "uniting the fans" won't hold water as we plunge into the Championship. If he keeps us up, the job remains his. But I am pretty upset that he has failed to garner the four points required to keep us up in these two home games. Yet, he only needs three now. If we fail to beat Palace on Thursday, but somehow still survive because Leeds fail to win, I don't think there is much self respect in that. But bigger picture is he was brought in to keep us up. If he does that, he has earned a shot at the rebuild.

I'm looking ahead and even if the worst happens I'm just not really optimistic that he's going to do a whole lot better. I know people will go on about results, pragmatic, Yada yada yada but he reached that point as a result of his inability to make any progress the other way. And even now in games where the "pragmatic" thing to do is try to win he's too scared to. I don't like the signs.
Its a major concern.

But.

If im willing to judge Gordon and Iwobi in a side not teetering on the brink, surely you should do the same with Lampard?

Regardless of what happens, I think firing Frank would be a giant mistake for the club.

Before Frank got here the club was in absolute disarray thanks to Benetiz. The fans, players, the front office, etc. was all against each other. It was ugly. And then here comes Frank Lampard, while not perfect, he is the reason that the fans have lined up before games, singing their hearts out, letting off blue flairs to welcome the team. In my opinion, Frank has been a saving grace to this club. Overall, the fans love him, the players love him, and there is a sense of a unity amongst the club and the fans. If we fire Frank, who is to say who this board will bring in to replace him. If anything, it's just going to make things much, much worse.

If we go down and Frank leaves, it would probably be Dunc, Rooney or an unknown manager (or worse). Not to mention, it’s a pretty short off-season this year and with our board, it would probably take them weeks to make their minds up. If Frank wants to stay whatever happens, he should be given the opportunity to.

Frank is about the only thing this board has gotten right in a long time. Well, firing Benetiz too, but even then that was way too late before he could do the damage that he did to this club. Like you said, our board would sit on their hands before they could make up their minds and you know they will make a panic hire. For the love of Jesus, Mary and Joseph, stick with Frank. He's brought the fans and the club back together and I truly believe he is the perfect fit for Everton FC.

I'm not sure, and theres some glaring problems that keep coming to the fore.
Firstly, the internal mechanism that put an obviously toxic obviously wrong manager in Benitez in charge is still there, so although he's got himself removed (way past time btw) its the same bunch of henchmen that've put Lampard in. Not A Good Look!
Some absolutely baffling lineups and gung-ho team orders suggest he hasn't got the read on this bunch, and Sunday was another mark against. (Gomes, not changing the system at 10 men)
We've had a bit of success with backs to the wall football, poop-or-bust stuff, yet when we've earned a bit of leeway he's resorted to previous mistakes.
I want to be on his side, but suspect decisions like Watford and Brentford will hang around his neck like a millstone. It doesn't take much to alienate the support and when that level of bad blood and worse* gets some momentum, its over. Ask the spuzz-socks that appointed senior churizo-tits.

Wrong move after wrong move after wrong move. Chaos is brewing, all the flares in the world can't hide the seething betrayal thats been allowed to continue. It aint on him but he's the lightning rod they've put in place.

Eh I guess. Do you see good signs with those two? Because I'm willing to give some leeway to those showing something. Frank for me just isn't.

For example I'm not giving Doucoure a chance again.

I can understand why people would want to keep Lampard, even after relegation. Except for Ancelotti, this board has no track record in appointing suitable managers. But to keep him, in my view, would be to reward failure. That said, perhaps that is where we are now. Maybe keeping him is the least worst course of action. I don't know any more. What I will say is I don't have much confidence in Frank as it is, and would have less in him if he takes us down. But there are no easy solutions here. I just don't see the point in getting attached to any manager - or player - who endures a relegation with us. I think I am at the point that I no longer care if such a manager - or players - stays or goes if we drop.

You act like he is managing a side that has won multiple cups instead of a bunch of football players who don't belong in the EPL in the first place.

I recall calling him Donkeree, hes played well at times, but yeah, we havent seen him play football for a while now.

So, surely you should give him a chance to set up a side that doesnt contain him.

poop-on-a-stick football has paid off, why alter it? When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.

Trying to crowbar this bunch of spineless diseases into a grind-them-down and out-pass them side aint happening. Ever.

Learn, implement, get better. Fail at the previous then ship out.

Getting an air of the stubbornness that el-toro-the-clown did.

At half-time I said to the fella next to me, he was brave to keep it as he did, but if he doesnt change it at HT, its no longer brave, its stupid.

I have concerns.
He's managed to get them to work and I appreciate that. It's only part of the job. The other parts are major questions.

When Frank came in we were in 16th 4 points above the dropzone. We are in the same position in the table but the gap is down to two points. The mood and togetherness is improved but its not resulting in better results and more points.
Her can to a degree point to a very weak squad, but he also opted to sign Alli and DVB instead of the solid CB we were so desperately crying out for. An absolutely crazy decision we are paying dearly for atm.
