Tremendous scenes there after the match when Lampard went into the directors' box to be greeted by Sharp, Reid, and Royle. To his credit, I think Frank has genuinely thrown himself emotionally into the job. Yes, he's a pro and is out for himself - but every pro is. What he has done, I think, is commit himself emotionally to the job and the club. I think he has allowed himself to be touched by the spirit and passion of the fans and has actively embraced it. That won't compensate for tactical incomptence, but it will, at least, buy him goodwill. And as we saw with his much more accomplished predecessor, goodwill matters.
