Everton boss Frank Lampard talking to Sky Sports: "What we have just seen, I know its Premier League safety, not champions league, what it means to this club. Anyone on the outside would say we were dead and buried at half-time but the character of this cub dragged us through. The spirit was immense, I am overwhelmed. A huge night for Everton and now we want to take that forward.

"Sometimes as a manager you have to fake it and not show your feelings. There was a small change, Dele came on and was amazing. My point was its the emotions and character, can you energize the crowd?

"Once that goal went in for us something felt special about the night. We have created a special night in Everton's history.

"We needed the fans tonight. They dragged the players but they have been doing it for a long time. The fans have dragged us through, it is extraordinary what they have done. They have suffered this year because they want success.

"Those moments at the end were priceless. I came in three and half months ago and the support I have had from everyone at the club has been huge and that is within Everton. It doesn't get the media, the interesting story is we might get relegated not that Everton has a heart and a soul. Tonight we showed we have a heart and a soul and are staying in the Premier League.

"Now is time to take stock, enjoy for the moment and then make sure we are not here again next year, because there are reasons we are here. We have to find everyway to improve the squad, the club and ourselves.

"Everton fans can know as long as we are at this club myself and the fans will give everything."

Don't let them get at us as they have amazing players in Zaha and Eze. They bring on Conor Gallagher and have been a threat all first half. It would have finished the game. But to a man, the defensive effort... and the quality. Dominic Calvert-Lewin and the ball from Demarai [Gray]. It was a real mixture. The togetherness of the whole stadium gave you the feeling that something was coming. Credit to everybody who is an Evertonian tonight.

Anyone who thinks of it from the outside, he has invested a lot of money in the club and there is a real desire for it to stay in the league. "I am a constant optimist and a pessimist. My glass is half full and half empty. It is a dangerous game when you feel like that. My thoughts before the game were all the bad stuff. OK, we go to Arsenal, what can Leeds do, what can Burnley do. On the good side it was whether we could do something incredible tonight. I expected the pitch invasion and the outpouring. This is a people's club and they care deeply about it. There is nowhere else in the Premier League where what happens pre-game happens. It is a huge thing we need to tap into. On a footballing level we need to get better and recruit well. We need to make the culture even better. I will be more forceful about what I want next season. But I don't want to underplay what these players have done. It has not been perfect but what they have done in the run in is special."

The club came together again, the fans were immense. The players, to go out and gave what they gave is something incredible. So much credit for that. It’s not easy when you go 2-0 down. It’s not easy to keep fighting, to keep playing and keep up pressure and go direct."

On Jordan Ayew’s challenge: "It doesn’t matter. We’ve been on the bad end of a few of them and my thoughts at half time was ‘I’m not going to complain about what should have been a red card’ because when you play like we played you cant really complain about anything that’s not the football being played."

On Dele Alli: "He had a massive role. We brought him to the club after a tough time. I’ll be honest sometimes it’s like we have to wait for you, can you train better? Can you fight to make me play you? Absolute credit to him today to suck it up sometimes. He has so much talent there. What he did was come on with quality, with belief, with legs and energy. He changed the game."

On Michael Keane’s goal: "It was crucial because we needed it at that time, we needed belief. Michael is one of the best finishers at the club – people won’t believe me."

On Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s winning goal: "Dominic was immense, he was the other day against Brentford. He hasn’t been fully fit, he has been fighting back from injuries – people want to comment on that and ask questions because he is a top player. He played like a top player. It’s right for him to score that goal because you get what you deserve in football and his work ethic and staying in the game, what he means to this club and I am delighted. Everything you want in a number nine."

That’s how bad our attackers and midfield are if he’s one of the best finishers at the club lol

Thats actually really interesting to me. Did they/do they not go up there with him?
 
I started to hate this football club early in the season when we appointed that manager but Lampard has well and truly got me back.

Him and the fans have single handedly kept us in this league, the clear out must begin immediately because there is no way this club should be anywhere near this situation again.

I think what we have learnt this season is how effective fans are on a team, our support over these last few weeks should be like that every game going forward.

Dom in his interview mentioned starting the game with a back 5 and being overrun in midfield then they changed to a 4-3-3 and it really helped.

Please next season listen to the players, listen to the staff, do not get obsessive with this 5-2-3/3-4-3 Chelsea crap as it is not an Everton formation and never will be.

No such thing as a clubs formation.

5 at the back been purely to counter our inability to defend. Has worked in games, doesn’t always work. If we had the players for it, it would be fine. But we don’t hVe players who can trap a ball in fairness.

I can imagine us being more traditional next season.

5 at the back, regardless of manager or squad, has never looked good here. Never ever.

It doesn't even help us defensively.
