Dom had previous injury issues and it was perfectly reasonable to expect he might have more

We were even looking at strikers before Simms went, so the club clearly knew it was an issue

If you know Rondon is suspended and Dom still isn't fully fit, then you don't loan Simms IMO

Once Broja/etc is signed? Sure, loan Simms. But until the other striker is in you don't go into the first game of the season with a striker who might potentially hurt himself again and a suspended back up

Lampard can rightly complain about the delay in a new striker being signed, but he could have put his foot down and kept Simms a bit longer

But DCL was fully fit, he played vs Kiev.

Basically we had DCL, Rondon and Simms last week and all were fit, Rondon suspended but whatever. We have been looking for a striker all Summer.

If we signed one we'd have 4 strikers on the books and you'd be saying "Simms needs a loan".

You can't use hindsight to criticize the club on the back of an out-of-the-blue knee injury. (As said by Lampard himself, freak injury)

He could have fought to keep Simms and they probably would have let him

He stood by and let him be loaned though
Honestly holding players back won’t serve us well. I like simms, but they have seen enough of him to think he needs more time. There are replacements for one game. Dele and Gray are both options plus Broadhead.

That means you believe Simms/Dobbin is a better PL striking option than say Dele or Gordon (hint: they're not)
I'm not trying to have an argument with you @Nymzee - We'll never know if they are, because we both know they'll never get a decent crack at Everton

Shoehorning midfielders into striking positions doesn't really work for me

The idea of players not getting a fair crack is a bit silly I think. You have to earn a chance in top flight professional football and then you have to take the chance when it comes. You don't automatically deserve a chance.

Before sanctioning the loans of Simms and Dobbin, Lampard will have been asked where to they sit in your striking options. No doubt Lampard had them down after DCL, Rondon and Dele. So even with an injury crisis, it was unlikely they would get the game time so not to sanction loans would have been negligent in their development. That type of short term thinking has stunted the development of so many of our youth prospects.

Dobbin isn’t a striker though

So you're blaming Lampard for loaning out 2 young, not PL ready forwards in Simms and Dobbin like they'd be our saviours now?

Spot on, I'd criticize Lampard if he'd have put a stop to those loans actually.

The decision was made for those players a developmental loan was needed, cancelling it to have them sit on a bench a week or two would be negligence.

Pretty certain we are bringing in a forward and we won't panic now and will wait for who we want - and get them.

Also pretty sure Lampards fully aware on what's happening and gas said that CM is the more immediate priority - likely because he had the plan B of Dele already in mind
