We'll be nowhere near the bottom 3 come the seasons end and Lampard/the club will only benefit if Brands/Donachie are replaced with credible personnel.

Stop thinking so short term and look at the problems that have plagued the club for years and undermined numerous managers.
You're an absolute riot of positivity.
It's just your own Benitez hangover you're clinging to. If you can't recognise the change in the club in a few days, it's because you don't want to.
This isn't the Lampard effect, that's 10-20% at most, this is that Iberian fossil being gone, taking a huge amount of misery with him. Apart from one or two wretched souls obviously.

What an extraordinary concept that Frank has adopted - telling the fans how long players are out for!

Results aside, this is the best thing he has done so far.

I cannot understand why Carlo and Rafael were both so poor on this front.
I'd say it's a 'keep the opposition guessing' approach. Where Frank is 'ye this is what we have.. and we are going to come at you regardless' get ready.

Shameless self quote from last week before we’d even kicked a ball :coffee:
Always find this bizarre. The basic requirements of being a professional footballer at any level should be the ability to pass a football and the ability to run with a football at your feet. You don’t make it to the premier league without having basic footballing skills.

But under our last manager and towards the end of Ancelotti’s reign, we set up as deep as possible and chose to lump the ball upfield. Often to our own detriment.

Maybe try coaching the players and getting them used to playing anything other than archaic football.
I know our players aren’t perfect, and they will inevitably make mistakes. But they’re much more capable football players than the last manager would have us believe.

The sad thing is Spadge is you lack self awareness - If it wasn't for @ForeverBlue92 you would be unheard of like you were from 2008/09 - 2021/22 until I kindly gave you some relevance - I deserve a thank you.

But yes great result and performance from Lampard and hopefully many more to come starting against the horse punchers ?
Logged into the wrong account there?

look at Coleman's movement and positioning from 1:04 onwards

at 1:20 both full backs are at the top of the pitch and there are 5 players all in a straight line ready to attack the 5 brentford defenders

Gomes drops off to help out defensively incase we lose possession to Brentford

At 1:30 coleman is still staying forward ahead of townsend

Gomes then plays a simple over the top ball into space for Tosun to latch onto which casues the Brentford defenders to panic and momentarily they lose their shape as Tosun draws a few defenders towards him creating space for the other everton players to move into. This is so similar to how henderson and fabinho play in the liverpool midfield just playing over the top balls for either mane or salah to run onto.

ive never seen our fullbacks stay that high up the pitch for that long

they normally just run straight back and play it back to pickford

the influence by lampard is already showing

I would suggest that Gomes' pass to Tosun was anything but 'simple'.

It's the some of its parts. If you have some players that are comfortable on the ball, and some that aren't but have other skillsets you either trust or not trust them.

Carlo just wanted to win games and found that one way was better than the other. He even said that for his next season, he'd look to up the quality. He's not daft.

Benitez is just well... everything is someone else's fault.

Lamps will trust the players. Can't see it working all the time (I think any team with a high press and intensity will catch us out - looking at Leeds for eg) but there's a trust element to it.

Both Benitez and Ancelotti constantly commented on the team's inability to hold onto the ball. Pretty damaging to team psychology.
They're nowhere near as bad as both of them suggested.
The minimum threshold to be at this level will allow them to do enough to try mixing it up and having any possession.
