My son only remembers Ancelotti and Benitez as managers, so yesterday when he saw Lampard celebrating along the touchline he came out with:

"Daddy, why is Frank celebrating? He's our manager, not a fan." From the mouth of babes and all that as he'd never witnessed a manager show passion.

Anyone could improve on Benitez's results, I honestly mean anyone on the planet.

Lampard was a smart player, he's young and ambitious. Good choice, doesn't always work out but it's waaaaaaay better than hiring fat washed up kopites like Rafael.

We've beaten two teams above us in the league albeit one of them being a cup game. We started well against Newcastle and then fell apart.

Beating the likes of those teams will give us confidence to move on to teams further up the league.

Totally agree with this.
Those doubters who do say its only Leeds Brentford etc we dominated both those teams and deserved the win

When we won early in the season under Benitez we were lucky and had a very brief spell in the game ie Burnley at home, Arsenal a wonder goal, Norwich home awful game.

Frank has a plan for how he wants to play and it is very clear even after a couple of weeks you can see it

Yeah, agree with all that. Bit of a perfect storm game - coupla injuries, big crowd response, them getting a goal back straight away.

I'm not trying to make excuses, but it's a different game if we dont get those injuries too, or even if we get in 0-0 in my view.

We didnt play well, or anywhere near our best, but we probably stand a much better chance of grinding a result out if that happens.

The thing is he has a plan and for aslong as i can remmember maybe even going back to martinez if you watched everton you wouldnt see any clear plan or direction, i want us to be a team that even if we had no kit on you could tell its us.. thats the benchmark imo

Seriously though I think you are spot on, Frank has a clear plan and that is to give us our identity back after the 'little club' years under the Ginger Messiah and the wilderness years since. It feels like the school of science is back and open for business. ?

Early days obviously, but let’s hope this is the start of something we can get behind and enjoy. Watching Hassenhuttl last night on MOTD, how close was he to getting the axe last season, especially after those cricket score defeats? But the Southampton board kept their nerve and they now look a completely different team. We’ll do well to get something there next week.
