We actually didn't concede many goals at all with Mimms. I don't think he was a factor, but losing the best goalkeeper in the world can only diminish you.

We lost the league in four days when we only drew at Nottingham Forest on the Saturday - not a bad result per se, but a poor one when we needed to win - and followed up by losing at Oxford. So we took one point when looking for six. Had we taken three we would have been champions. So, we blew it by being unable to win one of two games. Small margins.
Sharpy missed an absolute sitter, managed to put it over from under the bar!!!

I like what Lampard has said so far and we’ve had a couple of good results. Before we get too carried away though it’s worth remembering that Benitez record in his first 5 games was - won 4, drew 1. Look how that turned out, both the players and coaching staff have to show some consistency for the rest of the season before we can have any confidence that this appointment might be the one that finally works for us.

You can see the improvement in such a short time. Against Leeds he had already got the defence playing with the 'in doubt boot it out' which Holgate took on board. We seen it in spells at Newcastle before the injuries and seen it regular against Leeds the fast crisp passing like they knew where each other was and that rips teams apart if perfected. The whole demeanor has improved and a gear has been stepped up and it looks like for the first time we played as a unit and as a team. I know teams get a manager bounce at times but our play has changed for all to see. I think the lesser teams will not cope if we can keep that up and we should surely climb the table

Big thing for us for the rest of this season is for us to beat the sides we're "supposed" to beat

So Newcastle, Watford, Burnley and Brentford

If he can then add some additional big wins at home then we should hopefully be fine regards relegation and he can focus on next season then

Still a lot more to do though. Our next two games are nasty but if he can get something out of them then it will alleviate a lot of the pressure

He must have the law of averages on his side to do well enough here, fingers crossed.

Even if it's by accident and not design, some manager will make a fist of things here. I couldn't have imagined Frank Lampard as our manager six weeks ago even and it's something as bizarre as that can fit.
