2021/22 Frank Lampard

He won't walk. He had 3 interviews in the summer and didn't get a single job, he also flat out refused 2 other interviews for clubs he deemed beneath him.

I did warn everyone about him. Vitor would have been a better option.

He's won 2 in 4 - hardly disastrous when you take over a side who had won 1 in 15.

Frank's remit this season is 17th or better, to get us out of the mess Benitez put us in.

Can we please give this manager a chance? I think he is in the job because of name recognition and little more, but let's at least give the man a chance. A significant section of our fanbase refused to give the last man a fair crack, but, whatever the faults of the men who manage us, at some point we are simply going to have to accept that there is no miracle worker waiting to come in and transform us with a wave of a magic wand. This is a long haul job. It's Frank's to keep as long as he keeps us in the division.

How`s Benitez getting on with all those top European clubs, that you said are queuing up to offer him a job ?

Ps - I case you weren`t aware, the Sunderland vacancy has now been filled.

Agree.

Living in the past thinking we are something that we are not. Need to accept it for what we are, give people time and stop expecting anything you would get from a top club, because we are so far from it and have been for over 30 years.
...in a nutshell.

The time now is for us to be realistic and humble about who we are and where we are.

Too many people cannot accept that £500M has been almost completely wasted and that we now have descended to the level of a Burnley or Watford. Their brain cant compute it. But it is a fact.

We are one of the worst top flight teams in England and our horizons have to be limited to this:

1/ survive this relegation fight
2/ next summer sell our saleable players and recycle the cash on workmen like players (look at the lad we let go Forshaw - that type is who we need)
3/ season 22/23 target a finish that gets us where Palace are right now: 13th or 14th. Safe and stable.

Should've always been a plan when Carlo left. Continue or rebuild.

Did neither until a month ago.

Straws in the window here. The likes of Toffeeweb have already started to push the panic button in a big way.

Look, I'm just saying: lose the next two and there'll be bedsheets out round Goodison with 'FAT TORY FRANK OUT' daubed on them.

You'll only get panic if we end up in the bottom 3 with no games in hand on teams above us, but then it's up to Goodison to react. Look at all the mad stuff going on before Arsenal at home but the crowd turned up and won us the game.

Even if we got relegated I'd hope he stayed and just build again with his own team, regardless of if we do or don't stay up the vast majority of this squad need to he put in the bin, they are a cancer to the club and have failed miserably for years.

I disagree. The plan by Moshiri was to make us hard to beat with a manager like Benitez who had that reputation. It failed because Benitez with his associations offered the players a great excuse to down tools and do what they do best - give up without a fight.

Lampard is a big risk. I like the idea of him - but I wonder if he can handle it.

IMO we'd have been better employing a fire-fighter type like Allardcye at this point in time not when we actually did.

As always - Moshiri gets matters arse about face.

Watch the panic on here when we get beat by City and Spurs...

Sadly this is true.

I would add getting rid of underperforming players (Iwobi, Gomes, Keane etc) and investing more time and effort in developing academy players.

The problem we have is nobody would buy Iwobi, Gomes, Keane or say Gbamin. To get rid it would have to be similar to the Sandro sale - basically a free transfer and we pay some of their wages.
