I have a lot of respect for Conte. Easy for him to be blaming Levy for not buying him anyone in Jan or his players for not doing what he wants but he knows it’s his responsibility to find solutions not cry to the media post match.
He's playing a game. He's a great manager but he's like this at every club he goes to; basically says he can't be expected to win unless he has the best players. He's giving it the old 'maybe it's me...' line knowing full well that nobody will expect him to resign or be sacked, but in the same interview saying that you can change the manager but if you don't change the players you'll get the same results. It's a power play.

The way people talk on here, it's like Rafael had us in 19th or 20th with 5 games to go. He didn't. We were 6 points off 10th with half a season left to play.
We had the worst form in the league during a third of the fixture list and would have been relegated if it continued. He also sent our best creative player from the prior season away with no opportunity to fight for his place, sold our only left back for daring to question why we aren’t trying to play football and fired multiple staff members.

He wasn’t just bad at getting results and on trend to get us relegated, he was universally disliked by the fans and by the sounds of it, most people within the club too.

The deafening silence from the players and staff when he was sacked, spoke volumes.

You could almost hear the collective sigh of relief.

It's fine that you still want to keep your nose firmly ensconced in the warm embrace of Benitez's hoop, but can you do it elsewhere, since you're not an Evertonian and your hero no longer has anything to do with our club (save for the mess that he's left behind him).

I just don't like the bloke myself.

There's a world of difference between being 6 points off tenth and playing well enough to actually get those points.

If he'd stayed, I just don't see where the points would have come from; even now its still going to be tough

That interview with Richy the other day said it all
Said how much he admired Carlo and how much he helped him and how they were all shocked and disappointed when he left
Then without mentioning Benitez said they were all stunned James got booted out when he was really fit and training hard and how they couldn’t believe Digne got sold but how they’re all working hard and better now for the rest of the season…

How anyone can defend that man after his shockingly bad and extremely damaging tenure that has put us into a full blown relegation battle where many of us are scared to even look at the table, never mind watch an actual match is absolutely mind boggling to me tbh. He managed to make an already average team even worse and even beat Mike Walker for the poorest tenure.

Maybe its about time you stopped winding people up.

Lampard thread fella, take your comments to the previous manager thread.

Maybe comment on our manager and the fact he has won 2 games in his last 4 when we had only won 1 game in normal time in 16 attempts prior to him taking charge.

Top half of the table is the new standard for this club unfortunately. Cant compete against the title challengers, cant compete against; west ham, wolves, leicester, and not crap enough to get relegated. Our main rivlas in this league are palace, leeds, villa, southampton and brighton. All of these look to be evolving into higher up the table clubs. Hopefully Frank Lampard can get a tune out of these players till the end of the season and finally transform the club into a european club.

The key to getting away from the relegation positions is to winning two games on the bounce. Burnley were written off a couple of weeks ago now their winning two games has got us all panicking. Lampard has got to keep with the front foot approach (City and the RS excluded) even if that makes our back line more suspect. Four more wins and a draw or two should do it.

Benitez is a fraud, he was incredibly lucky to win 2 trophies, lost 1 final when it was essentially a home game. He cost the rs the title by failing to beat teams like Hull, Stoke, West, Ham, Fulham and a average City side at Anfield, that isn't the mark of a great manager. Only qualified for the champions league in 07/08, cos of dodgy decisions against us. When you actually look at his results they weren't that great, he lived if Istanbul, he would of been sacked far earlier, without that win.
