I think some of the stick he's got recently has been fair and yesterday he acknowledged as much himself.

But it struck me that we had 0 of our new signings playing yesterday. None of them even came off the bench. Know VdB was unavailable but contrast that to Newcastle who had 4 of their 5 signings starting and would have been all 5 if Trippier wasn't injured.

To have that spirit and togetherness to get through, without the injection of new faces on the pitch yesterday, has to be appreciated. The crowd plays a huge part but that's because the crowd is fully on side with the manager and team (in terms of the immediate goal).

I'm just gutted he didn't have a month or so's more time (and the January window) because I think we'd be absolutely fine.

Now it's about getting some organisation away from home and not letting the heads drop if we go a goal down.

What?? How???

We stay up great, still been a horrendous season.

A first trophy since 1995 makes this season the best in 27 seasons automatically.

Honestly baffles me how some are not arsed about a potential cup semi final - its the whole point of being a kin footie fan !!!

Get your head out of the accounts / league table and look forward to what being a footie fan is all aboot man!

It’s not “make or break” though is it? We have far more important things to focus on than getting bummed by City or Liverpool in a cup semi final. The season is not over until we’re mathematically safe.

He gets stick over his formation/team selections at times but as I said with Benitez its difficult when you have a mish mash squad of players signed by numerous managers with varying styles.

Really hope he can pull some magic off on Sunday as thats make or break for our season. A semi final at wembley is just what the fans and players need.
Imo we only started playing well after the allan send off. He reverted to a 441 and thats what most of us have been screaming for weeks now. He needs to stop lampard ball 3 attacker setups. We dont have the players to back it up at all. Prior to the send off we mostly resembled the muppet show and only got near Newcastle goal because they imploded. Anyway, much needed and I hope we can build on the conficence.

Maybe not to you but it is to me - I told you months ago we aint going down I've not worried about that scenario at any one point as I have faith.

Focusing on nothing but finishing 17th and not arsed about a cup semi at Wembley is something Burnley fans are all about - Everton aren't we ???

Whatever else you find to complain about... then it should include the inept owner, Brands, Walsh appointments, sticking with and then ditching lots of backroom staff, some seriously inept (read: Injured) players who we can't offload, the USM business, the Cazoo sponsorship, the missing player... let's talk about all the wrong managers we've appointed lately.

1. Koeman - a right narc
2. Allardyce - dreadful
3. Silva - inadequate for the most part
4. Carlo - did he really want to be here
5. Benitez - well, basically a dinosaur tactics wise (though he wasn't helped by the lack of funds due to previous splurges)

At least under Martinez we looked half competent now and then..

So cut Frankie some slack

I agree
Though maybe a day out at Wembley with no expectations would be great for the fans, but there’s no way we’re winning the cup.

Even if we manage to put in an amazing performance v city or Liverpool, we all know a ref, will make sure we don’t win.

Praying for survival and not arsed about a cup semi at Wembley is something Burnley fans are all about - Everton aren't we ???

I don’t care what you told me weeks ago because you’re still not correct and we’re still in trouble, we still have work to do before we’re safe. Safety is the priority whether you want to acknowledge it or not.

As far as this season goes, yes our priorities are the same as Burnley’s. That’s where your boy Moshiri has left us.

Then what is the point of being on here everyday or worrying about relegation if we have zero hope of winning anything in the first place?

Thats the whole point of football !

Honestly don't get our fans at times.

I mean yous are both right. A cup with going down just wouldn't be worth it.

That said, this club has left us so bereft of happiness for such a long time. The Palace game is free hit. Lose and we have no more excuses and focus on safety. Win and we have a day out to Wembley to look forward to and maybe the team can use that to build on their league away form.

We all hope we do mate, we would all be at Wembley singing them on. I just think he means odds are we'd have to beat 2 of City, Chelsea and Liverpool. Again, not impossible magic of the cup etc... But still, I can't expect us to beat teams miles better than us, as much as I'd be willing us to on the day.

It's ridiculous cos a few decisions were good in isolation but they just got all the timing and management of them wrong.
E.g.
- Rooney - good idea to sign him again but NOT when we had Koeman, Vlasic, Barkley, Klassen, Sigurdsson and no coaching & tactics.
- Some good young players signed but not under managers who would nurture them.
- Gray, Townsend - good 'Moyes-esque' signings, but not with Benitez and under current circumstances
- Silva - proving now he is a decent manager, but maybe with Brands + better backroom staff and coaches, would have been better. He's a bit like Martinez for me, had a good vision and ideas, but i dont think his coaches were good at all.
- Brands - nice idea, but matched with wrong managers, and obviously no real independence to work

I don't know what was wrong with the Cazoo sponsorship, but the SportPesa one was bad, because betting companies in my opinion are just not hte right way to go.

He'll be desperate to get us into the semi finals on Sunday, it gives us momentum, would give us confidence winning away from home, would have the players desperate to be part of a Wembley appearance ( its a big deal to the overseas lads ).

Very good side Palace, but if we dig in, dig deep you just never know and there'll he 4000 Evertonians roaring them on as well.

Silva is a good manager imo. He was let down by the recruitment team not getting adequate replacements for Zouma and Gueye.

What I will be critical about Silva for his time at Everton though, is that he struggled to bounce back right away and we would instead go on bad runs. Honestly think he just got the Everton gig too early in his career.

I agree chances are we wont win it.... but Chelsea have to go away to Boro who've knocked out Utd and Spurs. Saints are a bogey team for City and are at home and Notts Forest have knocked arsenal out and wont be a walk over either.

If say one or even two of them went out its all to play for in the semi's.
