Frank Lampard was a wonderful footballer...but Everton has now touched him...and he is circling the drain. We are an awful club....aren't we? I stopped watching our smack* of jellyfish two years ago. I hate this Everton team....I hate them with vitriol. These losers do not represent me. I feel sorry for Frank Lampard.

I dunno. I quite liked Ancelottis 4-3-3 effectively a 4-4-2 diamond. 4 defenders and 4 midfielders. That gave a lot of stability from this bunch of misfits.
I also liked Benitez instructions for Gray. He was all over the pitch and scored. Kind of like Gordon now but hes less lethal.
All that, is gone now.
I also liked Ancelottis head coaching. Heres what he said last night after Real Madrid got ear waxed 0-4 by Barcelona. "Its my fault. I made a tactical mistake, especially in the 2nd half. I apologise. Lets move on"
This is what Frank shouldv said yesterday. The cup isnt important. Staying up is. We need to move on, an not create drama. And, very important, its good for a manager to show he can also fail. He isnt the resurrection. Bond with players now, get rid of the dead wood in the summer. How difficult can it be.
I still support him but he has to cut out all these signs that ups the needle in the out-of-his-depth-gauge.
The third and fourth goals show a real lack of effort to me.
He already looks massively out of his depth to me. Just constantly making excuses and passing the buck on to past managers.

We all know they're poor but how they played against City shows you can do something with them.

I know what you mean but I don’t think it’s effort I just think it’s belief. They know the games gone, they’ve scored 1 goal in their last 5 games and have absolutely no faith in their ability to get 2 in 10 minutes so the intensity isn’t there. I’m not saying that’s not an issue, of course it is, but it’s a different issue.
Lampard has my support, it’s the players all day just simply not good enough. I do think frank needs to stick to a 433 though. I know we had selection issues today. But even with the good start we had, when palace came forward they created a chance with their first attack. I would like him to get dele in from the start behind the striker. Not staying he will do it but we need a change and some creative spake. Personally keep Godfrey left back. Allan is a big miss in the middle as no one eles can tackle and win the ball back.
But FL did make the mistake of replacing Townsend with Gray.
Maybe his hands were tied but the reason the system worked so well at first in terms of pressuring Palace is that Townsend was staying wide right and that was creating an overload. That in turn opened up space for Gordon in central areas and Richarlison was able to pin the CBs and stretch them.
He brought on Gray who a) doesn't press like Townsend and b) wants to do exactly what Gordon does. So even though Gordon moved right side both him and Gray were trying to get on the ball centrally and that meant we had nobody staying wide to create that overload like in the first 15 minutes.
Also, Vieira said that he used the injury break to tell his players to go more direct which they started doing. They skipped out a pass and got Olise and Zaha more involved and that's where the first goal comes from. Lampard didn't react.
So it's fine for him to say the tactics were right at first but we were trailing 2-0 for nearly an hour and never looked like we'd get a goal.
We had 55 mins trailing 2-0 in a cup QF and had 1 shot on target and it was a pathetic header.
It's an issue with the players but the manager takes his share of the blame too for that.

I'll back Lampard over the players. Sick of passing the buck when the common denominator are the players but most of all hiring Benitez has turned out to be the nightmare scenario we all dreaded, he has actually ruined us. Confidence is so far gone, coupled with defenders who quite frankly are league 1 level.
If we stay up it's a bloody miracle. Need a reset and give Lampard time. Arsenal gave Arteta time and looks to be paying off. Lampard needs the same grace, he's a young manager with modern ideas but has a squad not good enough for the premier league, well technically they are but they lack the mindset.

He worked well with young players at Derby and Chelsea, then struggled when they brought in overpaid prima Donna's. That's the situation here, so no surprise he's struggling to manage them. Let's hope we can avoid the drop and transition to a team that has young hungry players and get rid of the overpaid dross. As others have said it is working for Arsenal.
He’ll have had half a season exactly to keep us up. If his philosophy revolves around young hungry players he’d have used them by now. That’s 10 games now where he hasn’t bothered to. Not saying they’re world beaters but I certainly know they’d put more effort in.
