These players are bottlers, it's not something new, it's been that way for ages, the first time something goes against them they fall apart. That's the reason we are so much better at home ,when the crowd are behind them driving them forward, it gives them confidence and the will to keep going. If, however, the crowd stop driving them on and something goes against them, they fall apart.

It's not before time that they were called out, they are quite poor overall in terms of ability, when compared to the top 5 or 6 teams, but, they are no worse than the rest of the teams in the division and probably better than most of them. The issues are with bottle and desire.

I have had just about enough of seeing this season after season, I believe we have a manager now who sees them for what they are and is not afraid to tell them. I think we will go down, again nothing new there, I've been convinced of it since the Watford game, if we do go down I really hope we stick with Lampard and allow him to root out the cowards and replace them with players who believe in themselves.

Having said that, do I expect our board and the Iranian lunatic to stick with Frank? No, they'll pay him off and bring in yet another manager.

I know what you mean but I don’t think it’s effort I just think it’s belief. They know the games gone, they’ve scored 1 goal in their last 5 games and have absolutely no faith in their ability to get 2 in 10 minutes so the intensity isn’t there. I’m not saying that’s not an issue, of course it is, but it’s a different issue.

That’s still effort to me even if it’s also belief. These players need to have the character to fight and run and challenge even if they know they aren’t getting anything from the game.

I think it is fine for the fans to call out players, of course during the game it should be all support. I‘ve always seen managers calling out players as something they do before the inevitable sack comes, so I’m surprised to see him doing this now.

It’s all about getting the best from them, no matter how poor they are. Lampard should be taking the hits and protecting his players, especially in public. You want them with as much confidence as possible, not scared to try something on the pitch and not overthinking.

I’ll chalk this down to inexperience on his part, but for me it is very worrying indeed and a sign (at least to me) that he’s miles out of his depth here. If I thought for a second the club could find it’s own backslide with both hands I’d be suggesting they start their replacement search asap, as it is we would end up with Steve Bruce.

He won't. Unless the crowd turn on him

Which I hope doesn't happen. I think he's the one to rebuild whatever league we're in.

But FL did make the mistake of replacing Townsend with Gray.

Maybe his hands were tied but the reason the system worked so well at first in terms of pressuring Palace is that Townsend was staying wide right and that was creating an overload. That in turn opened up space for Gordon in central areas and Richarlison was able to pin the CBs and stretch them.

He brought on Gray who a) doesn't press like Townsend and b) wants to do exactly what Gordon does. So even though Gordon moved right side both him and Gray were trying to get on the ball centrally and that meant we had nobody staying wide to create that overload like in the first 15 minutes.

Also, Vieira said that he used the injury break to tell his players to go more direct which they started doing. They skipped out a pass and got Olise and Zaha more involved and that's where the first goal comes from. Lampard didn't react.

So it's fine for him to say the tactics were right at first but we were trailing 2-0 for nearly an hour and never looked like we'd get a goal.
I dont agree to be honest. The players allowed their standards to drop massively off the back of an injury.

These player or the majority of them have failed under all previous managers. Who on earth think that will change with a new manager?
No manager would improve this squad. It´s fair to say it´s a bunch of semi-pros who dont have the right mentality. 1 game away from a Wembley semi-final and they´re playing like this.

If these players had any honor, the pitch would have been on fire yesterday, no matter who played what position. When I think of our central defense and compare it to Jagielka/Distin, I get sick. Neither of them would throw their bodies in to prevent a goal. The midfield just doesn't exist. Gomes a disaster.

There were times when we had much worse individual players, but they worked as a team. You can't really say that about this group.

It should also be the last to see that it's not the manager's fault and hopefully Lampard gets the chance to muck out. These players will always let us and their manager down, no matter who the manager is.

Most of these players have learned that no matter how poorly they play, the manager will be sacked not them. It’s always easier for a club to sack a manager than sell and replace a large portion of players. I fear relegation but if it means a clear out of the deadwood and a refresh with hungry hard working players that fight for the club, then maybe there’s a positive side after all.

He’ll have had half a season exactly to keep us up. If his philosophy revolves around young hungry players he’d have used them by now. That’s 10 games now where he hasn’t bothered to. Not saying they’re world beaters but I certainly know they’d put more effort in.
Perhaps the problem is that our Young Hungry players are also a load of shizzle!

What a Day!

This squad's lacks of talent far exceeds their lack of application. Some things may appear basic but to be a good footballer you have to do everything consistently well, which covers all of the basics such as marking from corners, tracking runners etc. On a given day these players might be able to put a performance in, where they do the basics well, but they will never be able to extend that over a longer period of time because to do that you have to be good and they ain't.

I've given up with all of them, even the ones we previously thought were ok. Richarlison is a winger that can't dribble and Calvert-Lewin is a striker that can't kick a ball properly. They aren't good players.

Frank now knows our true predicament, that we are one of the worst teams in the league and against 15 teams or so in the Premier League, we will start the game immediately as rank outsiders. This season is just about finishing ahead of 3 teams who may be even worse than us, nothing more nothing less.

Beginning to look like he's just picking formations at random.

Gomes in a two man midfield was never going to work. And it didn't

He's going to take us down

I think we can see that Lampard is an emotional manager. The reaction to the win the other night was exuberant; the reaction to a cup defeat was to lash out.

We've had calm and even-tempered managers in the last few years; managers that threw the players a lifeline post match after they had just thrown them under the bus in the preceding 90 minutes. That sort of management style got us where we are.

Let's allow for the possibility that Lampard knows that dressing room a little bit better than we do, and that the way he reacts (after wins and losses) is precisely tailored to what will motivate the players he has.

I see a manager determined to get this club safe and then build next season. I'd be more worried if we got the same tired old Everton manager reaction to wins and losses. We need emotional atm, not some manager who let's every game drift by with the same come day-go day attitude. He's going to make every one of those last 11 games a massive deal and a cup final. That suits me fine.
