Rafael’s last 13 games. 6 points in more than one third of the season. If we get relegated, it is absolutely on him and this stretch of results.

And you expect that to happen in the midst of a relegation battle?
Yes?

People think that because we're in a relegation fight we should stop trying to create more chances than we concede or stop teams from having big chances all the time or create some of those chances ourselves?

We don't have to keep him around because of this though is all I'm saying.
People aren't saying keep him around because of his footy tactics. There's an understanding that his hands have been tied with the relegation battle.

It's all the other stuff we are seeing that makes us want to keep him. A bit of fight, teamwork, restoring some self-belief, these are all things we have wanted to see from managers. The pretty footy comes later, with some players he has signed to do it because this squad right now can't.

I get it, they dont have relegation in Murican sports, so you are used to teams using the end of seasons to play tiddlywinks.

But this is England son and in England results are all that matter.

What if the actual good performances don't come?

No. Thats not it at all.

People know that this team's confidence is rock bottom and that their heads go the second they conced a goal.

If we play a more expansive game right now this team implodes and becomes a shell of itself the second we concede.

Right now is about getting the job done. You've never experienced a relegation battle before and I'm fairly certain you don't actually understand just how seriously catastrophic it would be.

Ok, and then once the results are in come May we can analyze it and decide whether he's actually doing anything or relying on shots hitting his keeper in the face to get over the line.

We missed clear chances against Leicester (Richarlison x 2) and against Chelsea (Gray, Mykolenko) etc. We should have scored more goals.

Results matter in football, and performances don't matter in May of a relegation fight.
