So his flawed and dire tactics wouldn't influence the team's fate? Its everton fans being saboteurs? What would that entail dave? Someone painting a tunnel on a wall at Goodison ala wile e coyote style and players smash into the wall and get injured?
We amassed almost half our points very early in the season and then we had some defeats...then the mob descended and 'reasoned' they were right all along and demanded him out, and made sure the team and our position in the table were the last thing on anyone's mind through sheer bloody mindedness.

That is the truth of this squalid and disastrous season. No re-writing of history will ever erase that.

I enjoyed a win, but not the performance which was dire once more. A win, even a jammy one, is a win though. Still in the bottom 3 though ...thanks to Super Frankie.

If you thought we were dire on Sunday, then I dread to think what you made of other games this season, like the 5-2 against Watford.

We played the percentages on Sunday but we were smart, organised, and had a bit of steel to go with it. We certainly were not dire.

I mentioned the other day that we are playing Mourinho football at the moment. Nobody is claiming its 'easy on the eye' none of Jose's teams tend to be great to watch but they get results and thats what its about at the end of the day. We can't play expansive attacking football as this group of players can't do beyond the basics and the few that can (like a Gordon) have not got the fitness levels to keep it up. We need to just do the staying up thing at the moment and the other stuff can come later imo.

No. Not at all. A hard core of fans would still be sabotaging their own club and prepared to relegate us in order to "get der fat spanush wayter out, lad".

You need to stop it with this Dave.

It`s just making you look even sillier than you already did, over your all or nothing support for Benitez.

Time to let it go, the fat man is gone and thankfully is never coming back.

You are very much missing the point, if he was never appointed in the first place none of this would’ve needed to be discussed. He was the only manager in the entire world that our fans wouldn’t have been prepared to give time, and yet our owner decided to press on and appoint him anyway, against the advice of pretty much everyone inside the club and 99% of the fanbase. You genuinely couldn’t have picked a more ill-fitting manager if you tried your hardest. You can point the finger for this disastrous season squarely at the door of our owner and nobody else.

So are you admitting that you were wrong to put your faith in Benitez then? seeing as you're saying that he would have had us relegated by now?

Also how is the 'hardcore set of fans' sabotaging the club, preparing to relegate us? it was Benitez picking the players/formation/tactics, creating divides in both the changing room & board room? all the fans did was (rightly) voice opinions on the dirge being churned out.

We, as fans are nothing more than spectators - We essentially have no bearing on where the club is being taken, especially with Moshiri in charge.

I understood your desire to defend the Spanish one because he was our manager at the time, based on the fact you said you will support any manager of Everton. But what you are doing now is lunacy. He's gone. Accept it and do what you keep harping on about and support the current manager and forget who isn't here anymore. Especially that abomination of a Spanish manager.

Allardyce was ok but he helped spend 27m or similar on Tosun who was horrific and another 20m (?) on Walcott who was on an obvious downward trajectory.

What would the squad look like now I wonder if we had kept with him ?

At least Silva brought us Richy.

I think alot of players would have left under SA tbh especially Richarlison.

Out of all the managers we have been through, Silva i felt sorry for the most. Had we signed Zouma things would have been different that season, awful luck with Gbamins injury too.

No. I never put my faith in Benitez, I gave my support to him as he was the Everton manager. But he had to go, because what use is supporting a manager who is being undermined so much that the effect on the team was going to hand us a near certain relegation?

Some people need to hold their hand up and take responsibility for their actions.

What about the Arsenal game Dave? completely challenges your assertion the fans were unsupportive and detrimental to the team's fortunes. Had an opportunity to stage a justified protest but the majority stayed to support the players even after Everton went a goal down the fans continued to back the team and one of the rare benitez wins occurred in conjunction with the fans

I think he needs to show some real progress the next 5 games to secure his job going forward. Whether we stay up or not there isn't any point to keeping him around if all he's got is trying to scrape points. We're making no progress in producing a style of play and while I get the circumstances are tough I don't think we need to wait another year just to find out he doesn't actually have it.
Moaning about the style of play when we are desperate to avoid relegation. Never change big oil.
