2021/22 Frank Lampard

I think Lampard came here wanting a certain style of footy. He tried to implement it but found the players are incapable. The high press worked at times then the press became only one or 2 players instead of team press leaving holes and spaces. Our back 4/5 incapable of a high line. Think Lampard had tried to give it time but found he couldn't and we have reverted to a deeper defensive set up and conceding possession......this is more suited to the current crop and is how he has to see the season out. We survive and we will see a change in style and a big change in playing staff. Think Richie and DCL could be gone to fund a big change in player type and we start again. I like Lampard and feel given the time will see us OK.
Credit to him for adapting his approach. A lot of much more experienced managers would just get entrenched in their own ideas no matter how badly they were doing.

I think he needs to show some real progress the next 5 games to secure his job going forward. Whether we stay up or not there isn't any point to keeping him around if all he's got is trying to scrape points. We're making no progress in producing a style of play and while I get the circumstances are tough I don't think we need to wait another year just to find out he doesn't actually have it.
Trying to scrape points is the only thing that matters at this very moment. Literally the ONLY thing.

I doubt a single person on here (apart from you) cares whether we do it with 20%, 10% or even 5% possession. Or if all our goals are scored via deflections, or dodgy bounces.

Now isn’t the time for pretty patterns of play and free flowing football. That can be worked on in the summer.

Has had to adapt a hell of a lot since he's come in. This first six months at the club will have been a major experience for him either way.

Can't understand why people(person) are talking about style of play, we tried that when Frank came in and got eaten alive as these players can't adapt very well beyond the basics. Leave all that stuff till the summer.
This we want a nice style of play thing has always been nonsense, its one of the problems we had under Sam and why some incorrectly thought it would be a good idea to sack him, because they didnt liike his "style"

No. Not at all. A hard core of fans would still be sabotaging their own club and prepared to relegate us in order to "get der fat spanush wayter out, lad".
Sunday showed them up for what they were, and the Newcastle game, support from the fans does get players over the line, the Bayern game being a great historical example, we should of been doing this all season, the damage was done but hopfully on and off the pitch we can redeem ourselves

The football was boring, but based on results, the guy shouldnt have been fired.

Are you suggesting that benitez never had the support in the ground? He himself said the support was good. Fans in the ground got frustrated when we lost 5/6/7 on the bounce etc but he had the backing in the ground until the garbage football caught up to the results.

Its important but its not at the moment. Sam emptied half the ground (and does most places he goes) because he looks simply to not lose ie he is happy with a draw rather than go all out for a win. His teams might achieve what they set out to do but are horrendous to watch and you can't say they are not. The best teams can mix it up and play a mixture of styles and formations to stop them from becoming predictable. Sam's teams are predictable imo and tend to get found out.

On Sunday there was no groaning and shouting abuse at players, none, the fans were 100% supportive, as they should be
