Is it proven hes a bad manager?

Beating this current United side isnt an achievement and Chelsea are in bad form, but are they not good results? I get it you want pretty football, not many managers play pretty football from day 1. Look at Arteta.

But again, can you say for sure hes not the manager for us? When that time comes, then SACK, but for me that question is unanswered.
We can give him loads of time like Arteta got, it doesn't always go that way

I thought it was interesting we went to a back 5 against Chelsea, I guess we were trying to match up with them, but we have struggled with a back 5 many times before. I am not normally bothered with possession stats, but we had 22%. That is very low, I can’t imagine that’s how Lampard wants to play. I hope he is given some time to try and implement his ideas. We are going to have a large group of players leaving in the summer, hopefully him and the DOF have identified a number of replacements

I'm just not inclined to keep him because we survived playing total crap.

Remember he came in during the January window and got to at least give input on a couple of signings. Had he done a good job developing the side then we'd not be here now. I think it's fair to look at this as a 6 month try out and say no thanks.

He literally joined on transfer deadline day.

Jesus, deadline day, and he ok'd 2 transfers that were already negotiated.

Last 4 games, we have played man united, Leicester, Liverpool and Chelsea. 4 teams who were all favourites to beat us. And we got 7 points.

The way you are going on, its like we got zero points. And you'll throw back that man united are crap etc, they are, but they aren't losing to crap teams, the games they have been losing are to city, arsenal, Liverpool etc, not to the relegation teams.

The amount of players in and out our team since lampard has been here has been ridiculous.

Remember in the first half of the season, we were being told we won't ever win without Mina, Doucoure, Richie and DCL all playing? How many times has he had Mina, are only solid CB?

There have been lots of factors.

But Benitez, under difficult circumstances didnt help.

I'd liken it to playing the open on a windy day, and trying to blast the ball up in the air. It was naive management.
It was naive, and it was a contributing factor, and I think he had to leave, but in my view, the injuries have been a much bigger issue. Getting rid of Benitez was the one thing in our power to change so it was always going to happen.

I don't think we've been playing total crap recently. We've played defensively, especially in the last 2 games, but we set up very well in both those games. He had a bad start but I think he's doing ok and as others have posted he's learning as he goes.

I think he needs to show some real progress the next 5 games to secure his job going forward. Whether we stay up or not there isn't any point to keeping him around if all he's got is trying to scrape points. We're making no progress in producing a style of play and while I get the circumstances are tough I don't think we need to wait another year just to find out he doesn't actually have it.

We're fighting for our lives in games against better teams. I think the fact he's adapted to the circumstances is a huge tick in the box for Lampard. It shows a level of pragmatism other managers like Martinez could never embrace.

However we survive he deserves to carry on with the job. Why would you want to have another summer which splits the fan base?

I think Lampard came here wanting a certain style of footy. He tried to implement it but found the players are incapable. The high press worked at times then the press became only one or 2 players instead of team press leaving holes and spaces. Our back 4/5 incapable of a high line. Think Lampard had tried to give it time but found he couldn't and we have reverted to a deeper defensive set up and conceding possession......this is more suited to the current crop and is how he has to see the season out. We survive and we will see a change in style and a big change in playing staff. Think Richie and DCL could be gone to fund a big change in player type and we start again. I like Lampard and feel given the time will see us OK.

No-one can invest the amount of emotional capital that Lampard has into EFC, and not be converted. Frank Lampard is become Evertonian. I think we stay up because Frank... and the fans (doffed hat to Goodision Park btw...magnificent), will inspire our brave lionhearts to expedite that. They have the ability to do so...now they have the heart.

Could you name one realistic manager in your opinion that could produce electric free flowing attacking football that wins games with this inherently mediocre at best squad riddled with injuries? How do you play swashbuckling football when a majority of the squad struggle to string a series of passes together and Frank had minimal input on the signings as he arrived on deadline day. Benitez ousted two of our most creative players as well Also it's clear from his stint at Chelsea and the first couple games he wants to play with more attacking panache it's just not feasible currently.

Absolutely crazy talk that, genuinely one of the strangest posts I think I've ever had the misfortune to read.

We are in absolute dire straits. All that matters are wins to try and avoid the drop yet you want us to play like Brazil 1970?

So just to confirm, if we play the way he wants (high press, trust the players and let them show their creativity) and we lose the next 5 games 5-0 you won't mind because we showed progress?

Football isn't for you if you don't understand the very basic nature of why EVERYONE is desperate for us to stay up. I think you need to watch all the videos from outside of Goodison from Sundays match and have it on repeat for a few hours. Ask the 40,000 Evertonians what they thought of that performance and ask then what mattered most because of the situation we are in.

You massively misread the room time after time but for that post you've typed it from another planet.

Deary me.

People asking Lampard to implement a playing style when he has not had a preseason and he is fighting relegation, with a team contaminated with Benitez ideas... Jesus.
In these kind of situations the managers that stay up are those that keep it simple to the players. I'm glad to see that Lampard has given up on his initial ideas for the time being, there are managers that are willing to go down rather than changing the system of their teams.
