Okay, let’s run the maths.

There were 92 penalties in the Premier League 19/20.

There were 124 penalties in the Premier League 20/21.

So that’s an increase of 32 during the covid season.

HALF of that increase came against Liverpool and Manchester City, who went from 2 against to 18 against.

To put it another way, the average increase in penalties against a Premier League side went up 34%.

For Manchester City and Liverpool, it went up 900%.

Sorry, but that’s as clear as it can be. The officials don’t make the right decisions when these sides are in front of crowds.

Out of interest do you fancy doing the math on the 18/19 season as well ?. Interested to see how much 19/20 was potentially effected by the lack of crowds... be interesting to see if things prior to COVID were similar to how they are now.

2018/19 there was a similar number of penalties across the season (103) as there is likely to be this season (100ish)

Liverpool had 1 against and City had 4 against.

I don't have the numbers for Liverpool / Manchester City penalties for that season.

But if you look at the current season, it's very close to 19/20.

1 penalty against Manchester City and Liverpool, down from 18.

Their penalties against are down 94.4%, versus a league average of 27%.

18/19 saw 103 total penalties awarded so a deviation of 11% to this season.

Liverpool had 7 awarded and conceded 4
City 4 awarded and conceded 1

You can make a decent argument that the better teams don't concede penalties because they're mainly attacking and teams don't get into their box much. But the Gordon one was a penalty all day long, but I honestly don't blame a referee for that because of his awful dive in the first half and the fact that he's now known for trying to con fouls out of referees.

Lucky he could get a second look at it on a monitor, then.

VAR has become just a cop out for refs to shield themselves from unpopular decisions.

Yep, and that's the nail on the head there - while we can make an excuse for the initial decision by the referee, there is no existing VAR not intervening. But there again, we know why VAR is there, and it certainly isn't to level out the playing field.

Just a few calls that have gone against us…

Konsa foul on gray when through on goal - no foul, no var as not clear and obvious.

Richy non pen against the yids.

Rondon non pen against Brentford.

No pen for rodri handball vs city. Christ knows what var was doing.

No pen for foul on Gordon - no var, not clear and obvious.

Those are just off the top of my head, prob more I’ve forgot.

One thing that is clear and obvious - bias and corruption.

Tons tbh

The FA have always been super anal about policing managers comments about refs even when criticism is justified.

One quick google search for 'manager fined for misconduct' will show numerous examples of managers getting fined for relatively mild criticism.
Did Lampard get done for the City handball issue?

I doubt they would’ve had the stones to do him for that. Every sentient creature on and very probably off earth could see that was a handball. City aren’t allowed to drop points twice in a row though

You can't continue to question the integrity of the game which he has done multiple times now. The FA are obviously going to put a stop to that. They don't want others doing the same understandably.

You can question the integrity of the fame when there's blatantly no integrity in the game.

What the FA need to do it make their bia a touch less obvious.

You shouldn't blame the result on not getting a decision. You shouldn't go all in and call the game corrupt without having strong evidence. The supposed foul was soft as. It's not likely it would have been given whoever we were playing. That all undermined Super Frankies silly behaviour, but that's ok because he's been charged, will get fined and hopefully will learn something from it. Won't hold my breath though

Please stop saying 'super Frankies', it makes you sound like a child... Like @ForeverBlue92 and his 'Townie' remark.

It's cringe, something a kopite would say strangely enough.

Thats why VAr's good. It reveals the bias.
you don't want that taken away, they are more accountable even if they don't know it yet.

we have had some terrible mistakes against us agree cant blame them on evwrything but i want too see this from lampard at the minute we need to be aggressive. Is nothing better than an angry goodison and this is what we need

I understand the major mistake and the apology received but Lampard's words in the press conference after the city game mimicked the ones he is now being charged with
