2022/23 Frank Lampard

Rome wasn't built in a day and there have been times when Lampard has had us playing well. He really changed the atmosphere positively last season and kept us in the league and I still think he has a good connection with the fans.

If I remember rightly Moyes had a few seasons early on where he couldn't get things to click and we struggled. If Lampard wants to establish himself as a top manager he needs to commit fully to the club long term and we should support him while he gets his vision in place. Until then unless we are in serious danger of going down I would hope he had one of the safest jobs in football.

We aren't going to get our way each week and at the start of the season it seemed the general consensus on here and for Blues in general was we need to stop the rot and switching manager so frequently. We need to recruit smarter and get the best out of the players we have. Let's get behind Lampard and the team while we right the ship and hopefully we can get over what has been a very frustrating few weeks as a fan.

Yes but it's also a disaster to have a bad manager managing bad players and by every metric, Lampard is a poor manager.

I don't think that's fair. He seems to be a pretty good man manager and has shown an ability to help players like Iwobi improve. He's also seemingly "bought in" to the club and has been able to bridge the relationship between the fans and club after it was fragmented under Benitez. Everything he's done hasn't come off for him but if ever there was a season to try things out then this was it. Hopefully he can get our midfield working as it's really let us down in recent premier league games.

A disaster if we were to go down is true but considering the state we were in when he came I would say we are making small steps in a positive way and I don't reckon we are in any real danger of going down.

I mean that's the way I see it anyway?

Respectfully, I think those are all excuses made because he's a likeable character for some evertonians. I don't think we should be relying on someone who has no evidence of being able to improve a team through a project.

I notice that a lot of the media dont like Frank. That surprised me since he arrived. I thought he was another one of their darlings. But they cant wait for him to be sacked by Everton.

That's another reason I wont Lampard to get a grip of this situation and push on.
I think that's reaching. Has he given the 'media' any reason to believe that he's a solid manager with credibility in the management game? His criticism is hardly unwarranted.

I hate to bring it up again but Moyes didn't really have much evidence of that when he came to us. I'm not saying it's a sure thing but the position the club was in financially and in the league I'm not sure we could draw a proven manager.

I'm happy to give him a chance. For me he has earned plenty of good faith for helping keep us up last year. I know the fans played a big part in it but it wouldn't be fair to say he didn't help encourage and rebuild the relationship between the fans and the club.

Agree to disagree?

I posted this yesterday.

He near got Derby a play off place.

He took a Chelsea team with no ability to use the transfer market into the CL by bringing through their kids. As Tuchel said about him after taking over: "Frank had an amazing record in the group stage of the Champions League. [He] won all the FA Cup games. He's laid the foundation to get us to finals and I will never forget it, we don't feel ashamed or have any fear to speak it out loud."It felt like that on the first day. I am aware Frank created his own legacy as a player and make it bigger as a coach. We stepped in halfway through the season and tried to fulfil the job he had began."

Here at Everton he steadied a ship heading for the rocks and then averted hitting them. With ten bob he's sorted out the MF and defence and identified the attackers he wanted to come in, but the board wouldn't go and get them.

Give him an attack worthy of the name and this debate over whether he's a good enough manager or not gets put to bed.

I agree on one hand he should be getting more out of them and tactically I have questions about him at times. On the other hand he's only had ten months, one transfer window , we are trying to rebuild and I blame the squad more than him... Also it's an unusual season we are only a third of a way through so its hard to fully judge. So I think we give him January to get some attacking reinforcements if results and performances are still poor yes then its time to consider his position. But constantly churning managers is partly why we always end up in a mess... So I would rather we stuck with him to rebuild long term whether he's the man or not we would benefit from an entire squad turn over under one manager.

You give him an attack and they don't hit the ground running then you will be calling them [Poor language removed] purchases and blaming the DOF.

But of both init mate, if you can clearly see the attackers are talented but are being very poorly utilised then absolutely the manager will face criticism.

If they just look like they aren't good enough as players then the blame will lie with the DoF.

By then, from what we've witnessed this season to date, we could be at the foot of the table. Not sure I would take that risk.

We could be anyway you really think there's a coach that comes in and magically improves this team massively especially in attacking areas? It's likely they will come in and organise. Don't get me wrong the clock is ticking and Frank has to be better and his staff and the players and the recruitment if we don't see that asap, then yes he will be under pressure for his job. Maybe he isn't the right man maybe we need more experience but whoever the manager is several issues will still remain at this club it's no coincidence we have been in this position around this time of year three times in recent years

Agreed, but where is the evidence over 10 months that he can be?
