We drew our first 3 games in Martinez's 1st season - signed Lukaku, Barry and Deulofeu on deadline day and finished the season 5th with our best points tally in a long time.

It aint over until the transfer deadline fat lady sings.

Patience is a virtue especially in our financial position.
Seems the bit where I said "If we get a proper striker in"...slipped past you when you weren't looking

I saw it - but one signing doesn't make a drastic difference.

If we sign a back up to DCL but dont replace Richys goals from oot wide are we still any better off?

Likewise we could sign a Richarlison replacement but had we not signed Tarks and Coady we'll have still been getting our backdoors smashed in with Keane and Holgate doing their dumb and dumber routine at the back.

Every piece of the jigsaw is important, something the "just sign a striker ffs" brigade fail to acknowledge when slating our business done so far.

It will if we don't sign a striker

We need 2 attacking pkayers imo but
had we signed a mid level striker and not signed Coady, Tarks, Onana, McNeil and likely Gana it wouldn't have made a difference to last season factoring in losing Richarlison and the squad of last season finishing 16th.

Every piece of the jigsaw is important - moaning we haven't yet brought in 1 piece of said jigsaw when we've brought in 5 other pieces so far is madness with 2 weeks of the window to go.

Yeah. We've tightened up the back, brought in personnel to help us play 3 at the back (not sure I like that formation but it shows we have a thought process to our transfers), and have strengthened the central midfield area, assuming we complete the Gana deal, Our next priority is to strengthen the attack and I agree we need to replace Richy's goals first and foremost, then bring in cover for DCL that is a marked upgrade on Rondon. Ideally the Richy replacement could play along the front 3 and as part of a front 2. Diaz and Terrier would be my preferences from the players linked so far.

As you say, we need to look at the bigger picture, not just at one specific area. We've hopefully solved 2 problems this window with a third still to accomplish. I also think it is more important to bring in the right players, rather than bring somebody in just because we can get the deal done before Saturday's game. There are a lot more points up for grabs over the rest of the season than there are in August. There is always the risk that we leave things too late and miss the deadline, which would indeed be horrific. But I'll save chucking my dummy out until that actually happens, rather than with 2 weeks left of the window.

I still feel that we will bring people in before the end of the window. As to the quality, I'll reserve judgement on that until it happens. I feel the quality of the incomings may well depend on whether Gordon goes or not.

Clock is ticking Lampard. Are we going for 3 losses in a row. Kevin failed you miserably…
These next two weeks are extremely important and if we go for 5 losses straight your sack is right around the corner.

He talks a very good game does Frank, but little to back it up. Not expecting much from his press conference today, but I'd like some openness. If Alli is about to leave, there's no real need to hide it. If Chelsea are pursuing Gordon he can easily come out and say the bid is nowhere near what the club would value him at (and can even say he isn't for sale for all I care, because if £55m comes in, he's sold). No more talking in riddles.
