True, but you can only ever go shopping for the guys that are available and in your price range. We were garbage pretty much all over the pitch, so I’m not sure what your point is. We should have signed no-one until we got a striker in first?

My point ? We almost went down last year, we were a low scoring team as it was, so yes I would have thought we would have prioritised a striker first, especially if you don't have much money to begin with. :)

This is how to do a window totally wrong. Nothing has changed here except we lost our best player, and of course didn't replace them.
Dony be silly, we've gone back to that model of actually thinking about who we buy, after 6 years of Moshiri nonsense it was essential to get a window right.

Well you must be because you say you don't agree with the strategy of the club so that must mean you think the strategy of the club is not to reinforce the attack.

Also, if the bold happened you'd still be whinging. Short-term fixes to a midfield of Iwobi and Doucoure lol

Their strategy was to prioritise other positions and see what we could get up front at the end of the window.

That's barely a strategy.

You can get by in the short term with weaknesses in midfield or defence. But you can't get by if you have absolutely no one to score. We've won lots of games with Holgate, with Davies, with Doucoure, with Keane etc, but we have won no games where we didn't score a goal.

I don't think the manager has a squad capable of winning many matches at this level and I think he has been put in an almost impossible position.

What do you say if we end the window with 2-3 really strong attackers? Do you change your mind on what their strategy was?

If we get the the 2 good forwards we need then yes.

We will also have to judge against our points total as well. If we have say less than 3 points from 5 games, then we'll only know in May if it was worthwhile.

Did you want him to play Gomes Allan and Davies last week or something?

I’m talking more about formation than personnel, and having two in midfield up against four or five in the opposition midfield is just crazy, I’m afraid. I would prefer to include Davies in a five man midfield than continue with the utterly demented midfield two, yes.

I'm unsure how Lampard wants us to play. Is it play from the back, or go long or a mixture of both. I suspect he'd like to play similar to how Mourinho did when he first went to Chelsea. A holding midfielder and a target man to hold the ball up and while players get forward. But that would rely on a back 4 but at the moment he's going with wing backs. I think we should go longer quicker and it seems the outlet ball is cross filed to the wing backs, Tarkowski and Coady are good at that, better than what we have. It goes without saying really but we need a striker, but until Lampard gets the players he wants it is hard to gauge how well he'll do. So far the biggest disappointment has been the lack of someone up top that can hold up the ball.

Two loses says its not right as yet - the window will only have the potential to be right If we get a proper striker in

We drew our first 3 games in Martinez's 1st season - signed Lukaku, Barry and Deulofeu on deadline day and finished the season 5th with our best points tally in a long time.

It aint over until the transfer deadline fat lady sings.

Patience is a virtue especially in our financial position.
