2022/23 Frank Lampard

Why would Potter want to join us in 2021? Wanting him is one thing, expecting him to make such a pointless move is another. Nobody wanted the gentleman who used to manage the RS.

I wanted Potter in 2021 but we went for the Fat kopite instead.
This is the thing, potter in 3yrs took Brighton from 17th first season to 15th, 2nd season
Then 16th.
He wouldn’t have got 3 yrs at Everton with them finishes and there’s a myth Brighton have done it on a
Shoestring,
They made profit this summer, but the previous 3/4yrs they spent plenty

If Frank gets booted and Thelwell remains, it's quite likely to be Nuno I reckon.....

Hope I'm wrong, however, Wolves played some tidy attacking football soon after they got promoted.
Really,
He seemed very defence imo and also got extremely lucky he had a fully fit team for 3yrs. Lost jota to Liverpool and Jimenez got injured and they struggled,
They were terrible in his last season so boring to watch

I remember front foot attacking play

Of course it would..which is why I see it as a choice. Stability or just survival.

We don't progress with just survival.
I think most here believe - as I do - that if we get that stadium done then the takoever bids will be given a fair hearing by Moshiri/Usmanov...but only IF we retain our PL status.

So just surviving for the next 2 seasons or so becomes an understandable point of view to hold.

There’s nothing at all to suggest lampard is a good manager.

Results show he’s not very good and we’re heading down.

Clowns should have fired him after the second Bournemouth result.

Get rid asap.

Agree he wouldnt get 3 years here unless he was doing ok.
The rest you are missing the point. It wasnt maybe shoestring or a fortune. What is was however was top recruitment and knowing what you needed. Every single time i watched them under potter they looked a balanced side who could hold their own against top teams. In contrast Everton are hanging on by their fingernails in games like that in the first 10 minutes hoping to get out of there with a 0-0.

I think the fact there hasn't been a "Lampard IN or OUT" poll thread since the Wolves game speaks volumes.

I sense that most now dont believe that a change will be worthwhile...even the ones who have been passionate about a change of manager up to this point.

That's alarming. There's an air of fatalism about this.

Last season we had the 27 Minute movement piggybacking the Benitez unrest, but maybe that's not there for them now. Maybe that's why they've been muted.

Frank Lampard - 39 games

Good Results:
Everton 4 Brentford 1 - FA Cup - first game in charge
Everton 3 Leeds 0 - first home league game
Everton 1 Man Utd 0
Everton 1 Chelsea 0
Leicester 1 Everton 2 (our only away win under Frank last season)
Everton 3 Palace 2 (came back from 2-0 down to win crucial game)
Everton 0 Liverpool 0
Southampton 1 Everton 2 (our only away win in the league under Frank this season)
Everton 3 Palace 0
Everton 1 Newcastle 0 (under the circumstances of going down to 10 men and winning)

Bad Results:
Newcastle 3 Everton 1 (was winning 1-0 and then got battered)
Spurs 5 Everton 0
Everton 0 Wolves 1
Palace 4 Everton 0
Burnley 3 Everton 2 (winning 2-1 at half time)
Watford 0 Everton 0 (watford had lost 11 home games in row prior)
Everton 2 Brentford 3 (some sympathy with the red card but was a crucial home game)
Southampton 2 Everton 0 (made them look like Brazil)
Arsenal 5 Everton 1
Everton 1 Nottingham Forest 1 (late equaliser at home to newly promoted side)
Everton 1 Man Utd 2 (scored first then got battered for the rest of the game at home)
Everton 0 Leicester 2
Bournemouth 4 Everton 1
Bournemouth 3 Everton 0
Everton 0 Wolves 1

For me a good result is beating a top 6/7 side in the league, a win away from home against a prem team or a comprehensive victory against a mid-table / lower league prem side. Some may argue that away draws are a good result, i would agree if we drew away to man city, liverpool, arsenal, chelsea, man utd, spurs etc but not leeds or brentford. Again this is just my opinion.

I would have also expected Frank to beat the likes of West Ham, Newcastle, Brentford, Leeds and Palace at home in any event but I have been kind and in my opinion he has had around 10 good results in 39 games and 15 bad results in 39 games.

The question is whether those 10 good results are good enough?

If i were to dissect those 10 good results down, you could even argue that he may not even deserve the credit for some of them i.e. the man utd win was a lucky deflected goal and we didn't play very well, the chelsea game was again another fortunate goal and pickford heroics, we should never have been 2-0 down at home to palace to begin with in such a crucial game, the newcastle win was very lucky given that we had played terrible even before Allan got sent off and then were very fortunate to get the winner with our only attack with 10 men etc.

does he deserve more time? more resources?

I don't know, what i do know is that in 39 games, there have only been 2 comprehensive results in the league which was his home debut against Leeds and against Palace this season and we have only beaten 4 teams by more than 1 goal which are Brentford, Leeds, Palace and Boreham Wood (barely). That in my opinion, is not good enough for any manager.

They played decent football.

We offer up dirge ball. With regards to Money we have the 7th highest wage bill and have spent over 500 million on players to make us worse.

Thelwell needs to step upto to the plate and make the decision on who replaces Lampard because it's just a matter of when he gets sacked.

My head says stick with Frank - things will stabilise and we will start grinding out points but I thought that when I got up on Boxing Day. That was our best shot at 3 points this season! Bottom team at Goodison.
My heart says we could benefit from 3 wins a new manager might bring. Total short term view. I think we are staring down relegation already and its not even January 1.

My point was a load of our fans last summer before Rafael turned their noses up at potter. And we’ve spent 500mil because we’ve brought in 250mil.
Yes the stupid wages and long contracts have killed us. We have a debt under moshiri in 7yrs of about 250mil.
Brighton was about 200mil over a 4/5 yr period.

Maybe we need to build something over 3 or 4yrs, and stick with a manager and not sack them
If we finish 17th then 16th

I agree he'll deffo be a candidate I reckon. Moshiri also tried to get him a few years ago IIRC, before Thelwell was there.
