Would a good manager have got himself into the situation where these are the players he relies on or are we saying Lampard has zero input in transfers?
I remember when Moyes came in and the club was on its knees in a similar way as to how it was when Lampard arrived. Yes we had tough times but the majority of us backed the manager because he showed very early on he could do his job by getting poor players to play above their level.
I don't see that with Lampard. I never did but I was always fair in saying he should keep the job until it looks like he'll take us down. We are fast approaching that point already.
I think Lampard can attract top players...that we wouldnt usually be able to entice.
My thinking is that hes someone that can build but needs something to work with rather than tosh.
Weve clearly not got a tactical genius but someone who can build with the right players.
But in that case he needs to find a way to make us harder to beat surely? As a manager you can't just say 'yeah the attackers aren't great so we're doomed to lose every game we play for eternity'. You have to find solutions, find other ways to do things. Improve the players you've got through coaching, come up with new tactical ideas, get men behind the ball and grind out results, just do something that gets points on the board. Literally nobody is saying it's easy and he should have this side challenging the top 6, but a run of 7 defeats in 9 (almost certainly becoming 8 in 10 tomorrow) is unacceptable, he simply has to take responsibility for that.
I think hes feeling it and taking responsibility.
At the same time, if DCL was fit we wouldnt be in this situation.
If we bring in 2 good attackers we'll be out of this drama.
