Take home from today is we are far more effective containment and counter side then a possession based playing through the lines side. It may be how he wants to play eventually, but he needs to recognise after today we dont have the quality of players for it at the moment and it’s something that he will have gradually transition toward, if he is to stay in the job, but results are required now.

It’s the only way.

Counter attack is the best option for our team. The only problem is we can’t team press effectively to increase turnover, it’s down to players attitude. Half arse pressing and lack of energy.

If every attack from the opposite team ends deep in our half, it’s extremely difficult to counter effectively, the further the distance towards goal, the more difficult it will be for our technically limited players, simply because they have to make more pass and beat more defenders along the way.

Lampard understands that, his main focus is always high press but our players can’t do that effectively.

Not Frank's biggest fan. However , just as he has deserved stick for some of the performances this season , he deserves some credit today. What he needs to realise though is that the slow build up possession model just is not working. We need to transition the ball from front to back quickly , even if this needs to include playing some long ball.
This is ultimately what will keep him in a job imo. If he realises and carries this on or reverts to type and loses the next two games.

I think they can do it mate, they just don’t at times effectively last season they put a bit of fight into the press, they pressed better today, they looked confident in the philosophy and I think it’s enabling in terms of their confidence, they look a bit lost in the possession based model.

Few and far between mate, the first 2 games under Lampard was the best team press I’ve seen since Moyes. We won both comfortably. Rs game this season was another fine example. It is still a huge work in progress to enforce the correct and consistent hardworking value within the team but I’m seeing progress in the right direction, little by little.

Maybe it's the guiness but...

Chelsea home - chances galore
Forest home - chances galore
Spurs away - Onana and Gray miss sitters

Liverpool home - Maupay miss sitter

Leicester home - Iwobi and DCL miss sitters

Wolves home - Gordon misses sitter

Leeds away - goal mm offside

Season could be so different if we'd taken some chances.

Are we being too harsh on Lampard?!

Put the glass down…

Ultimately in a lot of those games the other side had some gilt edged chances too.

Nevertheless- better strikers/DCL fit and we should have enough to get to safety..you’d hope.
