Terrifying how he hasn't been sacked yet
The board will be absolutely devastated that Frank lost... Not because of the three points but because even they know they have absolutely nobody lined up & their unprofessionalism is about to be further highlighted - revealing once more, their true stupidity.

In his post match press interview yesterday, Lampard looked a broken man. He can't get much out of them players even though 4 of yesterdays team were his signings. He's brought in Tardowski, Coady, Onana, Garner, Vinagre, Maupay, Gueye and McNeill so must have had an idea how he was going to play with them in the team and improve the team from last year. We've gone from one of the best defences early in the season to one of the worst. We've lost at home to two of those around us down the bottom - Wolves and now Southampton - after going in front in both games. We got mauled by Brighton at home. It really isn't looked good for his stay as our manager. Last season the supporters really were the twelfth man and pulled us over the line to safety. I think getting a new manger in is the only hope we have to stay in the prem., which is an uphill task as it stands.
Im not defending him because the form is indefensible but do you think he bought/loaned vinagre ? The lad basically hasn’t featured and his decision to bring on simms and not maupay or McNeill smacked of him making a point as well . I’m not convinced any of that three were his

I agree the issues are deeper than the manager the board have been stripping the squad of high earners and goal scorers for two seasons, even not having a forward at the start of the season was criminal selling Richy and replacing with averageness. But still Frank's tactics aren't good enough an experienced manager has us points better off I'm convinced. We've taken the lead in multiple games that's Moyes and he knows he doesn't have many goals in the team he shuts up shop and gets wins or draws.
Not sure he's the best example to use in this case like, given West Ham are on the same points as us and have a far better squad.

But yes, I get the point.

Thing is we have tried it too, in games. We just can't hold on because - and this is what it comes back to - our players aren't very good.

Honestly, look at our CBs for S'ton's first goal yesterday. That's not on the manager, it's just on them being rubbish.

Coady has been crap for a while now after a good start. Godfrey isn't great and Tarkowski at times lunges in way too much.

Yeah but he spent/sanctioned/agreed with a. not selling Gordon for £30m+, and b. spunking £50m on Garner, Maupay and McNeil.

Unforgivable.
Right we didn't spend anywhere near that on those just to be clear. At the very max, it was like £35-40m. Way too much. But again, if those are the options presented with (Garner aside who I think FL pushed for, but was only £8m and on cheap wages compared to Allan) then for me the issues are higher up, again.

Kevin Thelwell should be getting a lot of this grief too.

Defence isn't the issue, it's the ability to score that's killing us, Goals against we are same as the RS, One behind spurs , main difference is they have viable/capable squad options at the top end of the field.

We've conceded 2 goals against Wolves at home, 4 against Brighton at home and 2 against Southampton at home. 3 against Manu away. I can't think of any other prem team that's let in 8 in 3 home games in the last month. We've gone from one of the best defences to one of the worst. Yes, we haven't got more viable options up top but if we had they'd have had to score two more against Woulves to win 3-2 , same yesterday, and 4 more goals against Brighton. We thought we'd sorted the defence out but it's now creaking badly.

In that case it adds to my fear they won't sack him and they won't back him he won't put more money in, it's just sleep walking to relegation

This is my fear also.

If they don't sack him today he'll have the west ham game and after that no manager is coming in for the arsenal and Liverpool games. So he'll have them too I imagine.

Its crazy but were battling relegation and this clubs seems happy to throw away games we need points from.

I get genuine anxiety thinking about this club.

I agree and I said the club had to back him with players or sack him, theyve done neither which is terminal for us. But ultimately it's the managers job to find the answers you can't replace an entire squad. I have sympathy for Lampard it's not totally on him the recruitment has been poor and the players also shoulder a lot of the blame, but his chopping and changing of tactics, strange decisions and clearly inadequate coaching is also costing us dear. He has to go.

People have wanted him to chop and change tactics though haven't they?

He does have to go, nobody is saying otherwise. But this side goes down or at the very least is in a scrap all the way through to May. It simply is not good enough.

It was astonishingly bad how the right sided CB ended up so far across the area and let himself get beat. Your point on the individuals are fair, but are they getting the right work on the training pitch? It doesn't look like a well drilled defence individual talent aside.

Defence is fine for our current stature, but they face constant bombardment from even our fellow relegation candidates.

Teams see out the first few minutes of pinball footy, let the game settle, then know we have no threat at all as an attacking force. Fullbacks and wingbacks can cheat 20 yards up the pitch, CM’s can creep close to and past strikers because even if they lose the ball, we’ll boot it out of play for a throw in. Wide players can hug the touchline to stretch our already not solid shape creating loads of space in the middle for the creator (which every team has except us) to pull the strings.

Our defence’s biggest issue isn’t lack of quality (though they are obv mid table at best), it’s that we offer almost no threat at all at the other end to relieve the pressure or at least ask opponents to leave some of their players in positions to recover the ball or stop counters. And in the current game, the best way to stop a counter from a mediocre team is a shirt pull or cynical trip. Counter attacking is the wrong style if you aren’t very slick, or at least very fast.

I 100% think these things are spoken about at FF. There are a few genuinely experienced heads in the coaching team. It’s been obvious for a while that some of the biggest holes in the squad are between the players ears. And also just beneath their penises.
