He certainly has managed a decline alright!
Depends if you find out results this season that surprising. I and others, said at the start of the season that the position we’re in now was a very real possibility - if not probability.

We had no creativity or goals in us, it looked that way and it’s panned out. Staying up this season relied on us staying in games and nicking 1-0 wins and some draws. We weren’t going to be blowing anyone away. It was always a very high risk plan with very low margin for error. Unfortunately when you have no threat going forward, it ups the pressure on the defence and that’s started creaking of late.

Not surprised in the slightest that we are where we are - you are, it seems, but that’s on you.

If we’re considering Dyche, and the reports are coming that West Ham are going to sack Moyes and bring in Benitez. Then I’d go all out for Moyes, he knows the club and fans, he will have improved as a manager. If the hammers sack him, then no compo. It would bring some unity back to the club and I think he would get a bit of positivity back in the squad and get us to mid table
The thing is Moyes would work on defensive mistakes, Frank doesn't.

There is a reason he is still out of a job, I know we are dire but what about next season, the season after. We would be taking him on to try and save relegation but fans will soon get bored with his style and want him gone again and so it continues
This rubbish about a managers style, his style is based around the players he had at Burnley. The ones at Burnley were crap like ours. Over time he can improve the squad and change his style.
Who is the alternative thats going to get pointsbout of this squad. Dyche for me for sure!

We have no threat going forward because the manager has no idea how to construct an attack.

We play with one striker who has no support around him and wide players who are reluctant or have been instructed not to cross the ball.

The squad is poor but not this poor he isn't getting the best out of these players by a long shot.

I mean I dont expect much but to be 19th in the table at halfway and to have been trashed twice in 4 days by a promoted team was not a very real possibility if not a real probability at all.

Heres a sample of what you said in September.

I like what they’ve done so far- they’ve seen the gaps in defence and midfield and assuming we sign Gana, centre back and centre mid will be better. I’m 100% there’s a lot going on behind the scenes and that there’s a lot of business ins and outs still to happen.

Shame we’ll be 5/6 games through the season by the time we’ve got our squad together- particularly as we have some winnable games next few weeks and could do with some points. Trust Frank though, think we’ll be stronger by the end of the window.

Reckon he’s slowly building well:

Pickford
Tarks
Cody
Paterson
Onana
Gana
Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Gordon

Solid spine and 3 very promising 20/21 year olds. Add three more players to those 8 and it’s a decent starting 11 he’s got.

We’ve needed energy and mobility in the midfield for 4/5 years. The fact he’s come in and changed it around in one transfer window is credit to him and makes you wonder why none of the previous managers were able to address such a glaring issue when he’s done it so quickly.

Addressed the issues at centre back as well. Solid spine through the centre of the pitch now when everyone is fit.

Now the glaring issue is in the creativity/goals in midfield and the wide forwards. Given how he and Thelwell have operated this summer, reasonably confident they’ll be targeting these areas in the next window(s).

Doing a good job at the rebuild so far.

Great post mate. Definitely seems the footballing department worked well together in the summer, it’s almost like the director of football and the manager are on the same page. What a difference, you’re right, can’t give all the credit to Frank for that.

Yeah shame we didn’t get Kudus. Again, reason to be hopeful that we’re identifying the right type of players who’d improve the weak parts of the team. A really top creator/eye for goal and we’d be a pretty decent team.

Don’t have huge expectations for this season, we’re starting from a low base. If he can continue keeping the team solid and hard to beat then that’ll give us something to build on. Next summer if we have another good targeted window adding the players who can unlock defences - we could be a decent team.

A plan at long last.

He was there 10 years, he bought all the players. They still played like that in The Championship under him.

Always find it a cliche that "only plays that style due to the players he's got". Tony Pulis used to say the same. It's all managers like that know, they just hate the typecast.

Their playing style has been transformed under Kompany with players who are certainly no better. That example on its own shows the difference a good manager makes. I'd be chuffed if we got Kompany tbh. Exactly the right sort of character to turn this club around, and showing he's got some tactical acumen as a manager too. I'm not saying Dyche wouldn't be an upgrade on Frank. I think he's got a solid record of overachieving with the players he had. I'd still rather Kompany.
