You'd like to think so as he can clearly coach and we had some good players then but with an owner meddling in transfers and a DOF not allowed to do his job I am less certain his vision would have been given the time or funds necessary. Whilst it's not the only reason they are good its clearly the coaching and footballing vision from Arteta, but Arsenal have spent a lot since he's been there.
Aye fair points mate neither of us can know for sure. Looking at Arsenal pissing the league out of nowhere I reckon he’d have got a decent tune out of Everton though.

I voted no. And I stick by that at that point in time. I said that both him and Howe would likely be excellent in the future, but at that point they would be big gambles. Certainly for a team that was struggling at the time.

Howe went off and spent years researching coaching and leadership and took a job when he was ready.

Arteta trained under Pep and took a job at a team with financial clout and already high up the table. But could he have managed dealing with bottom half squad and at the point silva was sacked, being pulled into relegation worries? Could we have afforded him the time like arsenal did? I’m not sure.

We have been on a steady decline way before Lampard set foot here. WE do need change but Dyche is not the answer.
We need to get someone to keep us in the PL this season. Any thought of what happens in the future is irrelevant given our current situation. If that means bringing in a manager we would not want long term or even short term under ‘normal’ circumstances so be it. We can worry about having a decent manager with sexy football after the club is stable and secure in the league, which could take a very long time given the total farce we endure at the moment

What happens if Dyche comes in and loses his first 4 or 5? Do we twist again? If we get relegated under Dyche do we sack him, pay him compo and find someone else?

Those above questions would go for anyone like Dyche, Nuno, Ferguson....limited and proven as limited.

Our club is pathetic, the board is pathetic, the squad is pathetic, the managers record is pathetic but the board are that pathetic that they'll pick a manager who is pathetic and we'll all be saying he's pathetic.

We need a complete reset which means the owner, DoF and board need to go and asap. Then we might get people in who know what they're doing and they'll then actually appoint a competent manager and a competent DoF which in turn means we'll get a competent squad and be competitive again.

It doesn't matter who is in charge whilst the club is run into the ground by utter charlatans

You mean... like we did last summer?

Agree with all of that but that isn’t going to happen anytime soon. It would be preferable to stay in the PL this year and sort the main issues as you outlined once we are safe, but safe feels a long way off at the moment

Rumour on ENN sacked tomorrow

Interesting, are they doing footy news now? Certainly starved of success.

No way we stay up imo mate, there's too much wrong with the club for me to believe we're going to stay up.

I've watched each team in the league this season a couple of times and obviously the same highlights everyone else watches like MOTD etc and I think we're the worst side and by some distance. We are deservedly in the bottom 3.
