It's not that we won't improve, it's that there are other issues that aren't going to go away. Lampard did better at Chelsea with better players and he'd do better with us with better players. His management wouldn't be better and that's the issue.
Don’t know how anyone could say that with any degree of certainty at this point. If he recruits as well as he did this summer to address the attacking/creative areas of the team, we’ll be in a much better place than when he took over.

Whether long term he’ll work out is Impossible to predict - what we’ve seen at the moment is a young manager making a good fist of a very bad hand he’s been dealt.

People are really all in on our business this summer being excellent.

It's impossible of course to determine exactly where this squad of players should be finishing in the league.

I think most of us would accept we are a firmly bottom-half squad.

If I were the owner or CEO, I'd think to myself that a 10-point improvement on last season would be a good well-done.

It's a reasonable expectation I think, based on a very low bar from last season.

I'd still say that accounting for the forward issues, seeing we should be able to continue turning more of last seasons defeats into this seasons draws.

If we added to our options in January, I'd say it was even more reasonable.

Below that target (45-46 points) and I would be disappointed.

Are they? Think they’re just being realistic about what we could achieve given the sheer scale of the overhaul required and the constraints they were operating under.
What I mean is if you're optimistic because we got the transfers right and should continue to get them right you've got a lot of faith in that area. For me it's not so clear.
