To me you should play to win at all times. You say 9 out of 10 times they'd get smashed but they didn't right? And we've not won away at someone as good as the RS since when? I think there is merit in playing to win personally even if you might lose.
RS haven’t lost at home in front of actual fans in years up until Saturday, so you’ve kind of just backed his point up.

Are you telling me Leeds have finally cracked the code? Or the more likely, the rojo merde are in a sticky patch form-wise and Leeds got lucky?

As others have said 9 times out of 10, probably even 99 out of 100, teams that play that way against good opposition get a pasting.

To add to this what are other (far better) teams records like at some of these grounds? How many times have City won at Liverpool? How many times have a Liverpool won at City? In fact Liverpool’s record at Goodison isn’t great in terms of number of wins. How often have United won at Anfield recently? How often has anyone won at Anfield recently? Or the Etihad for that matter? Or even St James’ recently?

Are teams just not playing to win at these grounds?

Or do they find that there’s a tactical quality conundrum that isn’t just solved by ‘playing to win’ ‘going 433’ or just ‘trying a bit more’
We're not winning away to anywhere man

We're straying to far away here. Yes those games are hard.

Leeds have won once away from home this season. And conceded 5 to brentford. The win was a massive outlier.

You say this but we literally won at Southampton a few games ago and Leicester at the back end of last season. Both games agaisnt managers that were previously described as good coaches. You can’t just write the wins off as lucky but then claim that any draws or losses are definitive proof.

Bottom half teams don’t win away that often. Marco Silva who is now apparently the genius who ‘dominated’ and ‘caned’ Everton 0-0 at home, didn’t win away with Everton for a calendar year. He’s probably the most formulaic ‘coach’ you can imagine.

This just feels like a moan that we’re not very good. The answer to that isn’t to lay all the blame at the tactical skill of a manager. We get a lot better through sustained investment and season on season improvement, neither of which is helped by constant changing of managers.

He previously supported and played for Chelsea, comes from London and currently works as a match day host at Goodison.

Just pointing out your stupidity saying that ex Chelsea players can't be Evertonians. Apologies if that went over your head.

You clearly missed the bit where I said also didn't wear the royal blue, pretty sure Diamond did. It's OK you can apologise in pvt to save ur embarrassment

It's 13 games into a new season with 6 new players trying to bed in. It's hardly forever. Lampard has spoken numerous times about wanting to be more expansive but we have to get the basics right first.

13 games in. Last season barely counts for him as he had to focus on keeping up with half a team who aren't good enough and he sacked off the first chance he got.

The irony is Lampard was actually playing the way his critics wanted him to when he first arrived and it gloriously swept away the powerhouses of Leeds and Brentford at home, and then got utterly dismantled by everyone else. Playing out from the back, split CBs, high full backs, trying to monopolise the ball, work it through the lines .

Then he realised he had a one paced team with little ability who could barely pass a ball and he decided to change tactics to get results, not get relegated, and rebuild from the bottom up.

What it matter if they wore the shirt or not? They are employees of the club either way. The manager arguably needs to buy into the club more than the players as well.

Those first 2 games felt refreshing and as if the players felt relieved after what had come before and finally being allowed to venture into the opposition half by the manager. But the limitations were quickly apparent.

Instead of being pragmatic and ensuring we stayed up, maybe Lampard should have just told them to go for it more. I'm certain we would have won all our away games like that.
