Something he said post match has me concerned. Paraphrasing here, but he said that other clubs have to make a strikerless line up work and that we're no exception.
Now that strikes me for two reasons:
1/ it completely ignores the fact that Rondon's introduction changed the game in the last phase
2/ it implies that we'll be getting no new striker through the door before the next game against Forest
If I was guessing I think that Lampard has been completely wrong footed by the Richarlison sale and persuaded that Calvert-Lewin was capable of leading this team for a season.
That's frightening.
I like Frank and I'm really in his corner wanting him to do well. But he went with a fanciful front line today when he needn't have, and I have my doubts whether he's thinking clearly in terms of prioritising player purchases.
A big decisive win against Forest will be very welcome. But if we dont get it the pitchforkers will be out in force, and in many ways its a self-inflicted wound.
Hopefully he sorts out Gueye and a very decent striker before Forest.
