What’s the point having a director of football if the manager just picks all the players anyway?

There in lies the crux. Why would you let a guy who has never played senior pro football over a guy with a coaches licence and multiple titles as a player.

Only real criticism I’d have would be him only using 3 subs

You only have 3 windows to use subs and 2 of them went with the injuries. Had no attacking options either tbf

We don't need a back up. We need a viable alternative because DCL is not reliable with injuries.

I couldn't care less about other positions right now because the lack of goals will cost us points every week. Chelsea were there for the taking and we couldn't because the recruitment has been crap and left the manager high and dry.

You do also realise that the less goals you concede also increases your chances of winning games? We have to improve every position to improve results

Not who. How much. We payed millions to previous managers and they struggled. Could have paid them billions or millions aswell. Were you questioning their salary?

Not sure what you getting at, and I don't think you do. Top quality manager gets the best out of players. Now you can argue a poor squad won't be winning a title but they must at least challenge an opposition.

Teams who cant score go down. Burnley had a good defence and went down because their striking options were dreadful. We're in a similar position right now and people haven't realised for some reason.

We will buy a striker. DCL will come back. Even Rondon will come back. We will be fine. Think Lampard has a plan which bodes well….

But we don't all keep losing the plot about it a few days after our main stiker got injured. If he was fit today then its not the same problem is it .

I certainly hope so but I have dont have the same faith you do.

If they haven't noticed they needed a striker before today then we really are in trouble

If he was fit then we probably dont lose but there are massive question marks over his fitness going forward. He cant put games together anymore.

Well said. Happy to praise the defensive shape but if you don't create anything then 1 slight mistake can lose you the game, as shown by today

Yea. And he got injured Wednesday. So what did you expect to sign someone since then..
Hes our number 1 striker . Rondon is back up currently. We need to replace rondon .
Midfield pre season was our number 1 one priority. We have addressed that.

No my point for weeks is that its an enormous risk to gamble that DCL will be fit every week. I wanted an alternative forward signed so we arent reliant on a single player.

We had two goalscorers last year. One was sold and the other cant stay fit. Hoping the injury prone player can stay fit every week is a gamble we cant afford to take. We have no excuse now that it hasn't worked out.
