2022/23 Frank Lampard

Our form is clear relegation standard. Given our next 4 games, it's very likely we'll be in the relegation zone in January, and could easily be bottom.

Relegation would be a disaster for us. It would ruin the club financially, possibly terminally. We're spending 500 mill on a new stadium - no way can that be reconciled with Championship revenue.

So the key question is: which manager, whether Frank or another we could realistically appoint, is most likely to stop us from being relegated. I'll hold my hand up and say that last year, Frank Lampard wasn't the answer I gave to that question, but we stayed up, so kudos and all that.

This year, we are on course to get fewer points than last season and I don't see any reason for optimism that the situation will improve significantly. If it doesn't improve, we are quite likely to go down.

Our squad isn't great, but it's not relegation standard. Don't tell me you'd swap our squad for Bournemouth's, Forest's, Wolves', Fulham's, Leeds' or even Brighton's. Our players on paper are at least as good as their. But there's no obvious plan; motivation seems to be lacking; nothing is changing either from game to game or even within games when we're getting steamrollered by what should be worse teams.

Is there anyone better out there? The are certainly managers abroad who are, or who have, added value to their squads; guys who have taken unfancied, underfunded teams and got them into the to reaches of their leagues or won a cup: Gallardo, Fischer, Gasperini, Slot, Ferreira, Favre, Streich, Glasner. I'm sure there are others.

Would they come? Don't know. Would language be an issue? Don't know. Would their style be the right fit for this squad? In some cases, I think it would and in others, they have enough tactical flexibility to make it work.

We've got cards showing 13 at the moment. Twisting might give us a 2 and we still lose; it might give us a 10 and we still lose. But it looks very much like we're losing anyway if we stick.

I don't think Frank is getting even full value from these players, limited as some of them are. I definitely don't think he's adding to the sum of the parts. I shudder to think where we'll be this time next year if we don't make a change.

Benitez was sacked day after Norwich defeat, but I suppose we have rim on our hands till next game so it might still happen...

Defo some rimming going on from the Benitez bellends.

We didn't have a DOF last time around though.

Kenwright and Moshiri were listening to agents and looking at ex efc managers because neither have any clue about football.

This the same DoF that signed Maupay and McNeil to replace Richarlison? (He makes the signing remember according to you).

You would trust him to get a managerial appointment right based on that?

The discussion shouldn't be if Lampard is better than Benitez.

Benitez was a disaster - a disaster made entirely by the fraud Moshiri by the way.

99% of fans, including myself, were completely opposed to having him join.

Now he's long gone the discussion should be is Frank Lampard good enough to be manager of Everton. Nearly a year down the line with him it's fair to say there has been no improvement. Since he took over. We stayed up, yes. But being in that position was partly down to Lampard himself.

Personally I wasn't impressed with him at Chelsea, were his struggling team promptly won the champions League with his replacements guidance.

With there now being a long break in the season it's the perfect time to take stock and be ready to go again. It's also the perfect time to get in the right man and give him time to work with the players.
