Money will be available, im sure, he hasnt been shy in the past, but I think he will be asking KT to be creative rather than lashing huge funds on the table.
Thelwell is another we need ask big questions of. All these midfielders who can't pass and can't shoot when we were crying out for attacking quality.

Cant say I trust him to get it right.

It’s a bit more than a signing not working out, we’ve been left criminally short in the most crucial area of the pitch.

*fwiw I blame Lampard just as much for that, however as you give him zero credit whatsoever for the decent signings made, then ‘big Kev’ takes all the blame.

Rock and a hard place when we needed 10+ signings this summer and had restrictions due to FFP not just on spending but how certain deals were structured.

Its easy to be an armchair accountant/DOF and claim we should have signed x,y,z and not have signed a,b,c but none of us know what the state of play was.

If Thelwell had £100 millions to spend how he saw fit in the summer I highly doubt he would have signed McNeil and Maupay.

The 2 lads at CB are very good signings, they arent the best of the best of the best, but I really like both and I never rated either.

Gana was worth the punt, hasnt worked out sadly.

I like young Dwight, I think him and Dom would have sweet love on the pitch, but yeah, strange signing.

Maupay is worse than he was for Brighton and he was very bad for them.

Then theres the fella we paid 33m for, plays like somebody we will be calling raw for the next 10 years, but early days and I admire the punt of potential, same for Garner.

Vingare must be bad if he cant get in ahead of Myko.

I know, injury prone, but I really think Doms injuries threw a huge spanner in the works and honestly, I see the issue, how do you replace a 50m pound Striker when the 50m pound Striker is still your player?

So what you're saying is he had a certain amount of money and thought that blowing 35million of it on 2 bang, bang, bang average attacking players was the answer. And you not only support this, but you defend it?

Is that what you're saying?

They showed no hint of linking up when they were on the pitch together. I’ve yet to see McNeil put in a remotely threatening cross.

He also signed Tarkowski, Coady, Onana and was inches away from signing Kudus had Ajax not pulled the plug on the deal. Maupay also scored just 2 less than Richarlison last season and shown what he can do with the ball to his feet against WHU - maybe we should try that more often instead of lumping balls to him Alladyce style ?

But no lets just focus on the negatives as no other DOF in world football ever makes a signing that doesn't work out right ?
I do agree with this, but it’s also further proof (as if we need it) that the club has been run like an amateur outfit. Surely there should have been close cooperation between the DOF and the Manager? Yes, all clubs make signings that don’t work out, but to replace such an important player with someone that does well with the ball to his feet (for example) when the Manager intends to play in a totally different way just smacks of the right hand not knowing what the left is doing.

One of the most important factors when having a DOF is that they and the Coaching team work in unison to get the right kind of players in to suit the intended system.

So often in any business it’s the lack of communication that has massive implications. The whole club needs a huge reset with the right people in the right places working as a team.

Team work is needed throughout the club not just on the pitch.

We have wasted so much money and time because everything behind the scenes has been a shambles.

We need the team behind the team to start pulling in one cohesive direction all working for and with each other, then I believe things will start coming together on the pitch.

To me, it just seems every area is sat in their little bubble doing their own things.

But what if I told you the two other players that cost £35 millions the parent clubs demanded more money upfront thus not being able to be sanctioned meaning currently Rondon and Gordon up top had we not signed Maupay/McNeil.

Its clear we wanted Cornet before McNeil as an example.

Very easy to criticise without any knowledge of what goes on behind the scenes.

Brands and Walsh you can criticise as both spent a combined £400 millions in the space of 4 seasons with no worries, no restrictions, no PL interventions.

But yeah lets hammer the guy tasked with dealing with the aftermath in one summer window...

Yes, but he didn’t and he knew that when he joined. I’d have hoped his little book of contacts could have extended further that a Brighton reserve

FFP has nothing to do with how much you pay upfront. For FFP transfer fees are amortised over the length of a player's contract.

Sure, I don't disagree, but Lampard called Maupay up personally to ensure the transfer went through so it's not as if he's blameless. Transfers are done by a committee for the most part, so picking between Lampard and Thelwell is pointless. They are a team.
Correct. It's getting pretty tiring hearing all the excuses. Everyone gets blamed except FL, feels like a monthy python skit. The point is, which is difficult for some to understand: FL has worse results than Rafael, all statistics that have predictive power and try to look past the results are miserable, subjectively (with the eyes) it is difficult to recognize an FL team, and we looks like a team devoid of a plan, FL even insisted on signing Deli Ali (which in itself is grounds for dismissal due to lack of judgement), he has nothing on his CV to suggest he is a competent manager . Well, he led Derby to a 6th place in the chamionship the same position they had the year before, but 1 point worse, and he led Chelsea to a 4th place with a ppg of 1.67, congrats! He did a great job for us last year, well, last year we just have to thank the fans. What an incredible bunch, and made me proud to be an Everton supporter!

Its common knowledge we couldn't agree a deal with Burnley over Cornet because of the structuring of the deal/payments.

Regardless of what the reason was for that ultimately the DOF was hamstrung this summer and had to sell our best player just to break even. To demand his heed and use him as a scapegoat when the manager and board are being let off the hook is short sighted imo.

Thats not to say he's completely blameless but "Kopite Kev" is an easy and convenient bullseye.

That would be down to cash flow problems and not FFP. Which is possible given we lost some USM deals and we are spending on the BMD.
