Galway saw what Dublin did to Cork in that replay, and from reading accounts of the game in the Irish Newspaper Archive, a Galway county board official said before the game, that Cork were too soft in that replay and we won't make that same mistake in the final.

So it was Galways plan to cause trouble and look for a fight, and that's exactly what they got. Galway have lost a lot of all Ireland finals in both codes over the years, although i have a lot of time and admiration for their hurling team of the 80's. Both of Corks all Ireland wins against Galway in 1986 and 1990 were fine clean and sporting games.

89 SF was a class act from Cork. Seriously. Keith Barr was so naive to fall into Dinny's Web and get sent off.

I was actually working in West Cork at the time- always had great time for Cork and Kerry people.

Two great characters there in Dinny Allen and Keith Barr! Keith was a tough hard player himself though. He was well able to dish it out!

Dinny should have won an all Ireland medal in 1973 as well, but he was disgracefully banned by the county board, just because he wanted to play soccer with Cork Hibernians.

Dinny is an absolute hero to me to be honest, but Keith Barr is a man i have plenty of time for as well. Thankfully both of those lads, got their well earned dues in the end.

Delighted for Ashling. Mrs BR and her Mum are great friends, and Asling is a fabulous footballer.

She has youth on her side and hopefully she will soon be back to her best.

A belated congratulations to St Finbarrs, who won their first county hurling championship since 1993 at the weekend. The Barrs are a Cork hurling powerhouse, who had fallen on hard times in more recent years.

They won the football championship in 2018 and 2021 as well, after previously not winning it since 1985, so yeah the production line is back in order down in Togher alright!

To the best of my knowledge, no other club has produced as many stars for Cork in both codes as the Barrs. I think it's the only club in Ireland to win all Irelands in both hurling and football as well.

I'm a neutral really i have no connection to them whatsoever, but it's great to see one of Corks all time great sporting institutions have it's moment in the sun again.

Kilmacud Crokes in both the hurling and football Leinster finals today.

In the hurling, trailed by 11 at HT to Ballyhale Shamrocks and despite a great 2nd half, were beaten by three at the end.

HT in the football and they lead by 11 against The Downs of Westmeath.

I really look forward as a neutral to see whether Shamrocks or Ballygunner will prevail - hard to see anyone else.

Glad for Crokes in the Football - hope they go on to win the All Ireland.
