Transfer Rumour Gabriel (Lille)

Gabriel did an Instagram chat earlier this morning. Someone asked him to touch his hat if he's joining Arsenal, he touched his hat. There's a video of it doing the rounds but I can't seem to post it here due to a problem on my side.
Again, not getting my hopes up so gonna assume this is true, but usually on these lives they say that about something someone's been doing a lot

Just seen it, he literally just adjusted his hat as he probably did multiple times during the recording. Pure coincidence

Mate, have you ever even seen him play?

Nobody knows if hes the next Thiago Silva or the next Per Kroldrup.

And you'd be the first to lambast Brands if we paid big money and he ended up being a dud

I would - but that doesn't mean we should never sign another play ever again incase they are crap.

This DOF of ours hasn't the drive we need imo - doesn't do business in January and likes to wait until deadline day to get bargains in which blew up on our faces last summer.

We need someone who just goes out and gets the main business done not haggling over £3-4 million here and there when he's lashing £34 million on Iwobi in a panic.

But you go on as tho a club like Everton can just go up to any player in the world and sign them withing 48 hours no questions asked. Its much much more complicated than that.

If you want to go out and get the business done immediately, you have to pay a big whack in transfer fees and also wages.

This is precisely what we are trying to avoid doing.

I am not 100% sold on Brands and signings like Iwobi are a big concern, but to bash him for trying to save us money, whilst also bashing him (the club) for spending money haphazardly is just ridiculous

No he was actually indicating that he is joining The Hatters, Luton Town.

Big signing for the championship

Seen him three times he’s good.

Then again systems make players, take our QE2 at CB, play him in a deep defence he looks like Nesta, ask him to push up he’s worse than Titus Bramble.

Excellent! More overseas players new to CL... just what we need to build morale, team ethic and grit that left 1 season after Martinez took over.

Except City all the teams who've dominated Prem have 4 or 5 regular quality British and Irish players. Same in Italy, Spain and Germany (with domestic players I mean - not Brits and Irish!)

We're getting there with Pickford (who needs more competition for his place), Keane, Coleman, Gordon (promising), DCL (improving). Keep, overseas lads like Gomez and Digne if poss who put a shift in. Jury out on Iwobe, maybe needs more of a run to settle - loved watching Yobo and Yak etc previously. If someone offers for 80m for Richarlison let him go, just don't like the guy, but he does add a threat. but give Kean a run with DCL. Maybe Gbamin will come back and add legs to our sh*tty midfield.

Would like to see a young 'local' / domestic presence in the squad double though. Young lads like Olly Watkins at Brentford and our own academy set-up.. perfect time to bring them in, no Europe, just FA Cup, League and Prem. Desperately wanna see an end to the over-priced roundabout of mercenaries we've hoarded these last 5 seasons. Literally don't recognise what was on the pitch decline since the decline of Martinez midway 2nd season and Koeman/Walsh debacle.

Out
  1. I'm disappointed Delph didn't figure more... not sure what his game is other than cover for Gomez
  2. Davies not quite up to it (wanted him to grow into the role for years...)
  3. Walcott perhaps fading a bit.
  4. Cenk not at it
  5. Reserve keepers are not serious long-term options - need pressure on Pickford to cut the mistakes
  6. Sigurdsson - painful watching him stroll around
  7. Bernard - out the game too much
8 players. Plenty of room for youth in there.

There is a time and place for prudence - LFC can afford to do that as they have a team good enough to finish top 4 regardless of any business done or not - however this current Everton side full of crap that finished 12th in the table coming off the back of a 3-1 humping at home to relegated Bournemouth, the same Everton team that was dominated by outfits like Southampton & Aston Villa can not afford that luxury this summer.

Business has to be done by hook or by crook this summer or we are in a relegation battle next season 100%.

Moyes’s backbone and defence.
