Let's try and keep it Everton related yeah?

I mean, Goat's alright like, but he's just a fat lad from Birkenhead really. He can keep his alleged clique. I've got a wife and kid to keep happy. See ya.

Feel free to answer the actual question.

As I said mate to another lad - I haven't a scooby what the club could do regarding it but our injury record is consistently one of the worst in the league year in year out and there has to be a reason for it other than "bad luck".

When you have Bolasie rupturing his knee ligament and allowed to try run it off then something isn't quite right.

Im more than aware however that we have a habit of signing crocks which doesnt help our cause but there have been plenty of otherwise normally fit players over the years who have picked up constant niggles or bad lay offs on the training ground etc. in which the stats in comparison to the sides around us in the division dont suggest its a problem shared by most clubs.

I would like us to get another cb but midfield is the major concern out wide and in the middle, think we have enough to carry us this season

Hey guys,

Call me sauced.

Had word today we've booked a summer medical for Gabriel dos Santos Magalhães from Lille OSC.

For what it's worth, same source gave info on Gbamin last year.

Anyone got any idea if he's any good?

But but but Marcel, something not his fault something doom squad

Our priorities have changed.

I doubt we planned on signing two central midfielders back in March. That has now changed - because the post-lockdown games showed how utterly crap our midfield was, plus Gbamin got a new injury.

We haven't got tons of money. That isn't helped by FFP and yes, a global pandemic.

We have tried to renegotiate as a CB wasn't our priority now, whereas in March it was. Now, Lille could easily have accepted other bids and Gabriel accepted interest from other clubs regardless of whether we renegotiated or not.

There are so many factors in play here. Your thinking that this deal is all, 100% on Brands – who at the end of the day will make decisions as part of a 'committee' with the board – is a bit off.

Is it frustrating and disappointing that a player who we identified looks to be going to a league rival? Sure. It definitely is. It's a shame as he looks a good player and perfect for what we need.

But we need players elsewhere and based on the post-lockdown games it looks like the club have decided the priority is midfield – and with the links to Doucoure and Allan looking very positive, it looks like that is indeed the case.

In an ideal world, we'll have alternatives lined up for the other centre-back role. But it could now be one that waits until the end of the window and, really, given our current options, that isn't too bad, even if we do need one more to come in, waiting a bit longer for the right deal is fine, a bit like with the left-back.

The Florenzi links seem strange but if they are indeed true, or have substance, then that could signal what we're looking at down the right. Florenzi plays both positions on the flank.

There's plenty of questions to be asked over Brands. But in this Gabriel deal, it's a real stretch to pin all the blame on him with everything that has happened in the past five months.
