....its an interesting point, but I presume the window and registration dates are set in stone. A lot of player contracts will be up, which could be problematic for extended seasons.

If they try to do that it will also make a mess of season 20/21 which is hard to see.

Generally speaking nowadays you agree with a player before a club. I think the emerging links are because Everton may be trying to push the fee down to Lille. It looks like a deal was agreed at 25-30m. It then came out at around 18m (so some movement there) and I reckon we could slice some more off that too, and will certainly try to. French clubs are under pressure, especially now the shock the league ending kicks in.

I saw the latest link was about 20m Euros. It was surprisingly low, but Brands tends to deliver this.

Hope you are right. From what I’ve read about him, it would b a shame to miss out, not sure how relegation is going to work in France but I’d also love us to get that Sangaré from Toulouse

Agreed, it appears to me we do this quite often with good players, we do the legwork, get the ducks all lined up and then go in with a low offer and lose the player to someone else. We seem to do the reverse with bad players.

I suppose, but we had a value and we stuck to it, which seems to be what Brands does, it pays off most of the time, I mean I personally didnt want us spending 80m on him myself.
