Everton buying a player is a bit like Mrs Caolam buying a dress, she sees the one she wants, then goes round all the shops, tries loads she doesn’t want and then goes back to get the original one only to find someone else has bought it.

Michael Keane and Jordan Pickford come to mind. Both came here with almost no links, immediately at the beginning of the window, both for around 25-30m.

He played in the champions league this season and only got booked twice. The premier league is alot more physical then the champions league, I think he'll do alright here.

What has seemed to happen is we nearly had a deal complete in February then corvid-19 happened. With the financial landscape of the football world moving into unknown territory we backed out of the original deal and have put forward a renegotiated deal more suited to the economic climate we find ourselves in. That's about the size and shape of what we know.

Personally I think the player has said he's coming and wants to come to us. Which means we have lille over a barrel with the deal and lille have been leaking stories about United, arsenal, napoli and psg all buying him or coming in for him to try force everton to get itchy feet and up our bid. Just like barca did with mina or Southampton were doing with hojbjerg.

Yes, that happens when you pay well above what a player is worth. You tell the team they have 24 hours to respond and then they snap your hand off to do the deal.

Looks pretty good from that. He's very quick footed in a tackle which is pretty unusual. The only thing that's difficult to tell is if he's any good positionally. A lot of the headers he's winning are 10-15 yards ahead of the backline. Few similar moments on the deck as well. If you misjudge too many balls like that you're in trouble. Mina goes for them quite often but he's not quick enough to pull them off sometimes. It's really fine margins with that sort of player. Personally I like a defensive combo where one covers and one attacks though. That sort of player would be ideal to pair with Holgate.
