Do poppies generally take ages from seed? Got some in a pot, and some in the plot, but no flowering yet. Lobbed in the same time as everything else.
Put any collected seed in a sealed large envelopes, in cool place three days later open a newspaper on the floor inside shame your envelope and carefully shaken got the newspaper .....- Pour the fresh seed into another envelope, sow in a seed tray with a light covering of compost water compost in your tray before sowing - then prick them out into plugs for next year growing them in a sheltered place
Once your wild flowers are over completely a light mowing before the end of autumn, for good growth the following spring .....I
Some will set seed and spread themselves .....others collect the seed yourself as an insurance policy ....

When they do flower save your seed pods after flowering & do what I stated on collecting seed from your wild flower garden - a good spreader of self seeding plants are Aqualigias Columbines - you can buy defence seeded ones or Mackenas giant flowering varieties they seed almost anywhere - also the yellow rattlesnake grass stops ordinary grass invading your wild flower garden - try some dwarf ornamental grasses of different colours as they seed & germinate too.....
You have to be careful in a wild seed garden one Genus does not take over ......your poppies will flower after flowering collect seed of your favourites to grow on in plug plant form and replant by making a hole purposely where you want them -
The idea is for you to dominate your wild flower garden the way you want it to look trail & error is the name of the game ......
I even in a landscaped garden if something seeds, & looks fitting I leave it alone or remove to repot to put it in the right place I want it to be, I have a block paved drive full of self seeding Hardy geraniums, columbines etc I have left them alone to see how they perform etc ......

I'm so tired of the slugs munching on everything on my garden. I have tried the beer and haven't been successful so I'm going to try some slug pellets, looking at Amazon to order some today. I'm determined to be a slug and snail killer this growing season.

More gravel on your surface is a great deterrent too, it has to be MILD beer too.'....slug pepets every two weeks will see them of put them down at night ...

You are both doing it all wrong. You should drink the beer then you won’t really care about some slugs……happy to help….

I can't even remember planting this plant but it's gone from a tiny little plant to this in 4 months. Looks a willow, can anybody tell me which one and how tall will it grow?

Oh right. Yeah I will do ta. Wasn't sure if it went tall and then dropped but it's going wide.
If it's a Goat Willow it'll have slightly asymmetric points to the leaves and they'll be hairy underneath.

Sizewise it'll get much bigger and eventually become a tree...might take a good few years though. If you like it and want a bit of height in your border you can always cut off the longer straggly lower branches and allow the main stem to grow. Would probably need support to keep it heading upright and regular pruning or it's gonna sprawl everywhere as it's doing at the moment.
