I have them in containers but at the moment I’m rivalling Cornwall for crop size.
In containers - did you add steamed bonemeal? As a phosphatic fertiliser produced great containerised roots - if you have not a heaped tablespoon into 5 litres of water mix well & feed them with Bonemeal - home bargains sell the cheapest fertiliser -Also then every 2 weeks feed with a lawn fertiliser with high Nitrogen for a month ... then go onto a high potash feed like Phostrogen etc .... make sure before feeding the plant is well watered, so your feed does not leach out in the container ....
In the ground the potato does break up the soil well ..... if you leave any babies in they will return .....

Remember the season of weather is 2-3 weeks behind in the UK - harden tender annuals off first before planting out - - hanging baskets make them up now & whitsun is ideal for putting them up feed once per week miracle grow is ideal once established......I prefer wall baskets as they tend to be more sheltered from the wind that can cause damaged plants...

Good time to Gylsophate any weeds in-between flags etc - - do be careful to spray drift - so pick a calm day as if it goes near your plants off lawn it will kill them also ..... a bit of washing up liquid in your glysophate mix acts a spreader in your mix buy the concentrate - home bargain is the cheapest concentrate & wear gloves & use a litre spray hand gun .....

The council have not sprayed for 2 years, so I just did my kerbside & areas in the back garden between flags etc ....

Quick question for you @Joey66
I’m planning to build four raised beds for some vegetable gardening. What type of wood is best? I was thinking cedar but am open to other ideas

Thanks again for your advice on planting some roses a couple years back. They’re looking great

Anything that is cheap,& strong enough go hold the soil & compost use a preservative that is plant friendly put thick wooden pegs in treated & posidrive together paint first- then assembly - use good soil with compost mixed in fork the base for drainage - use a spirit level at aĺl time's to enable level watering & feeding ....

This is a bit random but pebbles in our garden have mysteriously been ending up on top of our fence, gate and flat roof extension. Same with our neighbours. Does anyone know if a bird is capable of this?

No definitely not kids mate they can't reach the roof of the extension.

Having googled it, apparently jackdaws, crows and magpies are known for stuff like this. Especially young ones.

As @jody1866€% has bequeathed me this thread, feel free to send any questions my way.
At this time of year, as the days get longer, you really want to be drinking lots of weed killer and urinating on your neighbours strawberry patch.
