No, they are paid huge amounts because they are athletes!!!!! If a footballer is overweight, unfit, etc he will not attract the higher waes or bigger clubs, you would not buy a player who can only last 45 minutes of a 90 minute game.

Am I the only one slightly concerned about him not signing for us? I really do hope we sign him for 2 years and then hope he ages like distin.
He is only out of contract on 2nd June iirc so it is only after that we'll probably hear much - Barry doesn't strike me as the type to conduct his business via the press.
Like you I hope he signs - if nothing else for a year before heading off to the US - but with Martinez's own position having been a defensive midfield think he probably got a particularly good eye for spotting a good player for that role in case it doesn't work out.
...I suspect both Everton and Barry are fully aware of the players intention at this moment in time. In fact, I'd be surprised if they haven't been aware for a while.
