If, for whatever reason we don't sign Barry, would you have Lampard?
Would bring even more in terms of experience. You would assume similar in terms of professionalism. Can he sit and do the same job? Would he form an effective partnership with James?

probably not. I think lampard would have something to offer in terms of knowledge to Barkley,but really we need Barry for the depth in cm. While we also need another player for behind the striker and on the wings I don't know that an aging player is what we need, we already have one in Pienaar.

There will be an expansion draft. Current MLS teams will be able to protect 11 of their players from the draft. Everyone else is available to be selected. Only two players can be picked off of any single team.

They will also be signing players like Villa...who very well could be loaned out until he is needed by NYC.

Not necessarily the dregs...there would be some tough decisions on protecting a youngster with promise or a vet in their prime. Most teams will have to leave a starter or two unprotected. Think Everton...which 11 do you protect including the academy? There would be some very difficult decisions to be made I think.

Defo not the 'stars' of the teams though.

LOL...I understand your view. For me it's no more unfair than the Chelsea's, City's, Real's, etc, etc of the world who sign anyone and everyone they want and loaning them out at their will.

Parity is something the American sports leagues generally strive for...it's quite different than European footy.

Seems quite an unfair system.

Very different system, but it helps to maintain the parity, which sustains the US leagues. A healthy league means healthy teams, at least so in US sports.
