I was wrong about him tbh. I know it's early days, but when we first got him in I always found him to be overrated both for City & England. I just didn't like him. He ain't half proved me wrong so far though, he just reminds me of when we first signed Gibson - I had the exact same reaction.

Barry looked like a bit of an old man at times towards the end, but there's no doubting he's had a positive impact. Massive improvement on Neville.

He was fine tonight. Average, no great moments and no poor moments. He's a great player to have, i.e. a proper CM instead of Neville. Still, empirical data tonight says he was our worst performer, so there you go.

The adoration here does surprise me. Maybe it's just because he is such an upgrade over Neville, but people saying he's better than Gibbo. I just don't see it. Barry's a better tackler overall I'd say, although he didn't even win one tonight and still gets big praise.

Re that stat above. In Gibbo's last PL match he had 84 passes at Stamford Bridge. Short memories.

Hi. It's a tired joke by now. Drawbacks of having a player's name I suppose.

Thought he was tidy too. He's got a level of class that is obvious to see. Whoever said if this was even close to his worst performance in the shirt you'd take that was spot on.

I also liked his post match interview. While Lukaku was careful about what he said looking forward (completely understandably and I thought handled well) Barry on the other hand enthusiastically threw open the door to after this season immediately. Can't remember his exact wording but I got the feeling he's already made up having potentially a big role in how this squad with a lot of young talent does this year.
