You can vote for the EDL? They kept that quiet, maybe if they advertised the fact they might have picked a few votes up.

Well you asked to keep it to the UK, and I would say that it is utterly bobbins. In the UK.

Yeah, there are neanderthals who will use their own inadequacies to beat someone up, but there is not gay discrimination in the UK. A crappy press, yes.

Millions of people buy that crappy press though, there must be some interest in it.

Hopefully times have changed though. I'll tell you something though, in NZ they haven't.

But not enough to leave the country, like my friend Victor, who lived in Norway for much of his adult life and could no longer find the level of overt racism directed at him and his kids tolerable.

He's black, by the way.

Racism can still hurt your life alot even if you dont have to leave the country.
sorry to hear that about your friend though. My general opinion is that there is not alot of racism here, but of course it will differ on which place you live I guess. where did ur friend live?

Or the muslim boy in the USA who made a clock for a school project and had the FBI involved as they suspected him as a terrorist. His family are now moving to Iran to escape the vitriol despite living there their entire lives.

Ok. Fair enough. I dont think there is discrimination in the UK. There are people who get paid less than others, there are people who get beaten up, (yeah, sometimes because they might be gay, or black, or a female, or white), but that is more down to the idiots who hold those opinions, not proof that those groups are discriminated.

I take your point about a gay footballer being concerned about the press intrusion if he came out, but I think that is more a reflection of the gutter press, not evidence of widescale discrimination.

Pfft. You should see how often my mate Sandip used to get stopped by the police because he was a young(ish) Indian in a nice motor.

Me? Never. Not once.

Quite possibly you are, that's up to you. Homophobic too, we all have our views.

I knew it was coming, i will take that as a result. If you want people to hear your opinion thats fine, but never push it on people as fact when you dont really have any idea if it is fact or not. The world isnt black and white, everyones views are made up from there own experiences not just yours.

My original post was about the'groups' who make up a very small percentage of the people but who act as they are speaking for them all.

Kolnes. In Karmøy.

Havent lived there myself, but I think he must have been unlucky to have ended up with racist people around him. There is lots of people from different parts of the world in Norway, and most of us are used to people with different colors and dont really even think about that.

These people have as much reason to speak up as any others, more so in fact, because of the past (and current) treatment of them.

I find it baffling how people can throw it all under the table really.
