Could tell he always had issues but I think a move to Manchester than London would have been better for him.Lad was always too far gone IMO.

Walter Smith at Rangers was very supportive, to the extent of being indulgent. Gazza’s off the field issues were quite unmanageable. Nobody was forcing him to go on benders with Chris Evans!Always wondered if he had signed for Man Utd things would have been different, think Fergie would have looked after him. Alas we will never know
Agree with what you say mate, but I just think if he had gone to Utd from Newcastle, Fergie would have been stronger and caring with him and maybe these incidents that occurred later in his career might not have happened. Its all hypothetical now and we will never know.Walter Smith at Rangers was very supportive, to the extent of being indulgent. Gazza’s off the field issues were quite unmanageable. Fergie wouldn't have touched him. His first big job as Utd manager was breaking up the old boys drinking club there. One of the best ways Fergie kept players on the straight and narrow was by punting those who looked like too much hard work.Always wondered if he had signed for Man Utd things would have been different, think Fergie would have looked after him. Fergie wanted to sign him. He was due to sign for him then changed his mind iirc.Fergie wouldn't have touched him. His first big job as Utd manager was breaking up the old boys drinking club there. Oh, and welcome @Ladyfan

Turns out I'm wrong then! Still don't think Gazza's problems could have been solved by a manager.Fergie wanted to sign him. He was due to sign for him then changed his mind iirc.
Matter of opinion mate, but as I said before, we will never know, all ifs and buts. But what a talent he was. Always remember one of his earliest games for Newcastle at Everton, the bloke who sat next to me told me about him and to keep an eye on him during the game, he was outstanding.Turns out I'm wrong then! Still don't think Gazza's problems could have been solved by a manager.
Edit - I was wracking my brain trying to think of the lad's name and it's in that article you posted. Ravel Morrison - Fergie couldn't sort his issues out despite ranking him as possibly the best young player he'd ever seen.
