Gazza in denial!

My husband, his brother, my sister-in-law and I were all treated to a dinner and to meet the players years ago by my mother-in-law years ago. The biggest thing I remember was Gazza who came up to table while we were talking to Duncan Ferguson who had his hand in a cast after punching a burglar he had found wandering round his house! Duncan was really lovely to talk to - no hint of an ego! Shame I cant say the same thing about Gazza! He came up (or rather wobbled up) as he looked very obviously drunk and/or stoned. He started laughing as he told us that he been to the toilet and got lost trying to find his way back? He had been playing for Everton for a good few weeks by then and it was my first visit to the clubhouse and I had visited the bathroom earlier and easily remembered my way back. I feel sad as I am writing this I write this because it was in all the papers shortly afterwards that he was back in rehab. What a waste of a life and a talent!
You,ve been very lucky Mrs. Ladyfan, that you have obviously never had a shameful member of your
family do something so terrible. I consider myself very lucky in knowing at least 3 of my friends have had
trouble finding the loo in a strange house, but have all peed in a convenient wardrobe. Of course it's wrong
and embarrassing, but it's still bloody funny 50 or 60 years later.

Say what you like, he was still one of the top 5 (Maybe the best) English footballers ever to play the game.
