Gerard Deulofeu - Once a Blue, always a Blue

Nope. Utterly serious. Vault me.

No I can't be arsed but I'll just say that second half he did absolutely nothing one shot aside and lost the ball virtually every time he got it. And he's not light years ahead of anyone. Baines is better than he'll ever be and he's currently nowhere near Jagielka, Distin, Coleman, Mirallas, Lukaku, Gibson, McCarthy, Barry, Pienaar etc.

Utterly ridiculous post.

A/ You can't possibly know how good he'll become.

B/ In some ways he's way ahead of those players you listed, in other ways obviously not. You wouldn't bring Distin on to provide a bit of magic to create a goal, just as you wouldn't play Deulofeu anywhere near the defense.

He faded in the second half and did make some bad decisions, but bad decisions are magnified for flying wingers as they end up losing possession 9/10. As opposed to a bad decision by a holding mid which means we lose the ball after 2 or 3 more touches.

He looked frightening quite a few times. He's going to be brilliant. Hopefully for us.

You can really. Obviously some players surprise and some let down, but I can never see Deulofeu becoming the best in the world in his position.

Well yeah, I think you've just briefly described how football positions work. A player is judged on how useful he is in his position.

At one point, he took me back to my teenage years when he tried to beat the same defender for a third time, just like Beagrie.

Great ability, some poor decisions from him though.

Is right, yeah totally agree! Not see rugs at our club in a very long time.

he was boss in the first half, everytime he got the ball everyone stood up cause you felt something was going to happen, faded real bad in the second half though.

He's definitely a top prospect, that's for sure. He reminds me a bit of Barkley when he came through, his potential is there for all to see, but he's not QUITE there yet, but giving him 20-30 mins in games of higher magnitude will do the lad the world of good!
He faded in the second half, but yet still nearly scored, the first half he absolutely bossed it, but i feel Mirallas, and Co should have been on to save him from being subject to this conversation at the moment.

Good player, Passing needs improving though as he seems to not quite understand how to!

he'll definately be taken up on another year you would have to say. Maybe i jumped the gun at HT when i said he should be starting next game (my bad)...although we are playing newcastle and they're ****e so i doubt they'll deal with him.

he's only 19, he'll be learning all the time though, he'll be a surprise element for all opposition to start with and they'll get use to him and counteract it (big step up from spanish reserves to the premier league), he seems to have the temprament to adapt though.

I don't think you jumped the gun at all. He showed me that we'll look incredibly dangerous with Lukaku in front of Mirallas, Barkley, and Deulofeu. Is he gonna make mistakes? Hold onto the ball too long? Sure...Barkley's doing that too. But for me, if we are truly thinking of being ambitious, those are the four players starting for me up front. He will only get better with first team football.

Give him and Lukaku a couple more weeks together and we will see a few goals from the big man being toepoked in almost on the goal line. Deulofeu loves to cut it across the keeper in behind the defence only nobodys been in challenging for it yet.

Personally I'd love to see him work with Baines a bit on the left because if somebody makes an intelligent run for this kid he will pick them out, and Baines is excellent at that.

He did seem to be flagging near the end though. Liga B to the Premiership is a big step up for a kid.

Haven seen him a few times for the B Team and a couple for the first team I can only say he has the potential to be a world great, he definitely has that expectation on him at Barca also but in football its impossible to know who will and wont make it. Apart from Messi, who Deulofeu sometimes gets unfairly compared to. He was a level above from day one!
