I reckon theres at least been some contact with Barca. Reminds me of the Mirallas deal last year when we were getting linked with a load of Olympiakos players before we knew it was Mirallas

It is a worry spurs are in for him. They are in Europe (albeit the Europa league) have a higher profile than us in Europe and have money to spend. However we can offer him first team football. If the lad is going out on loan, the last thing he would want ( or barca for that matter) is to be sat on the bench. Moyes never entertained the idea of a loan deal, without the option to buy. But I cannot think for one moment barca would allow this to happen.

I preferred Moyes's policy of only taking loans with an agreed price to buy as well. However, as Martinez transitions into the role, a loan or two without the option to buy is ok while we are all getting to know each other.

I just hope that he doesn't stuff the squad with them (as he did with Wigan).

I'm sure because Martinez is our manager he'll probably have the contacts to secure him on loan.

Barcelona will loan him to get regular football, if that's what we can offer him more than Spurs, it's more likely he'll come to us.

Indeed, Barca rarely loan out good players so I assume that they really want him in the first team next season and probably feel that more Spanish / B team football won't do him any better.

Yeah, they aren't daft Barcelona.

It would be interesting to know what sources/ties in Spain Martinez actually has.
