Gerard Deulofeu - Once a Blue, always a Blue

He was dead Catalan before we outed him. Another glory-hunting Barca fan trying to patronise other club's fans. Fans who actually support a team for the right reasons and many of them who go the game.

The internet is BROKE.

I said from the very beginning that I'm Catalan-American. Go back and read it, I didn't edit my post.

In case it's too difficult for you to comprehend, Catalan-American means my family is Catalonia, but we live in the United States. I still don't see what the issue is with supporting Barca. If I just wanted to hop onto the best team I'd be a Bayern fan. And also, find me one post where I in any way patronized your club.

I have continuously apologized for my comment on Gerard not staying on loan. I can't believe you're so butthurt over a player that isn't even yours that you all continuously attack me for being American, like that matters.

Pleased you admit you're American mate. Nothing wrong with that at all, you should just support a club that in some way gives you an idea of what supporting a club is like. Like Everton or Espanol.

Also to help with your conversion I've made the necessary corrections in red.

Look forward to having you post around here - sorry to get off on the wrong foot (30cm).

I know what supporting a club is like... Why would I want to support any other club but Barca? I live and breathe my club. Nothing is like it. Going from being somewhat uninterested in football as a youngster while my parents watch Barca play to seeing Ronaldinho rip defenses to shreds, to seeing young players from the youth setup debut and come up to seeing us lift the greatest prize in European football...

Nothing will match seeing Deco, Messi, Eto'o, and Ronaldinho make magic happen as a unit. For that matter, nothing will ever match seeing Messi debut and evolve into the player he is today. From watching Ronaldinho earn an ovation at the Bernebeu to the heart crushing loss against Chelsea and Bayern Munich and the finger pointing the came after to even the departures from and arrivals to even our youngest levels of La Masia, I love Barcelona and everything it stands for. Mes que un club. I'd say it in Spanish but it isn't very different. Our philosophy, from the way we raise our youth instead of spending hundreds of millions on players to how we pass the ball and even recognize players no longer with us as our brothers (Thiago, Muniesa, even Reina to the point that he wants to return), there is no club like Barca, and I would never dream of supporting another club.

I've been a fan of Gerard since 2005, about a year after he joined the club. I want him to succeed more than anyone, and if it's in Barca fantastic, but if he needs more time in Liverpool then that's fine too, as much as I dislike it. It's nothing against Everton, I just think of my family first, and some clown slandering us who is clearly a member of a political party that directly opposes what we stand for is hard to sit by and watch.

Glory hunter? If that's what you want to call me, go right on ahead. It doesn't hurt me. Just get your facts straight. I know what supporting a club is like. Do you?

Without meaning to be disrespectful mate you're a conspiracy away from being a kopite with drivel like that. They're not your club pal - someone like the Philidapehia Go Kickers are your local team but they're not good enough so you cling to some distant family DNA to find someone off wish you can earn some reflected glory.

Take a lead from your fellow Americans on here who done the right thing and chose a true club to support. One where success isn't handed on a silver plate thanks to financial backing each year. So they actually get it.

Truth is, you don't get it. The enthused words are scripted and we've seen it before. I wish you well though, you obviously enjoy the game of football(soccer) so hope you settle on a sound team.

My grandfather has been to the Camp Nou more times than you have taken a sh*t. Distant family DNA? I think not. My parents moved here (USA) shortly after I was born.

Barca isn't a true club? Why, because we don't struggle season in and season out just to win... nothing? Is that your idea of what a "true club" is? Having to take players out on loan so they can carry you and spending all day hoping you'll just get them for one more year? Or maybe you mean I should support Espanyol, despite them being Catalans in favor of Catalonia remaining unified with Spain when my family both here and in Barca want independence? Maybe I should just switch clubs. After all, they're both in Barcelona, right?

And quit with the red wording. I'm not stupid. Keep reveling in your mediocrity and banging your chest like you're better than me for supporting a "true club", though.

Christ, even your parents are American. Lad I hate to break it you but your Grandfather(Pops) is telling lies. He was too busy getting a bukkake off Franco's boys back in the day to watch actual togger(soccer).

What issue is it of yours with the Catalan independence movement? Your distant ancestors f*cked them right off for a better life. You genuinly haven't got a clue. Talk to me about quarterbacks or something as that's clearly your domain.

My parents are full blooded Catalan you as*hole. What, are you saying my dad should have stopped supporting Barca because he had to move his family? Why don't you tell me how else we should live our lives, since you're clearly so much smarter than I am.

You know more about Catalan independence than I do? That's... funny. You say I haven't got a clue, but you're the one with no idea. You don't even seem to know Catalan independence is ongoing to this day and Barca's away kit matches the colors of our flag...

You cling to my geographical location like a teddy bear. Do Americans offend you so much? You can change where you live with a simple plane ride. You can't change where you come from, though, and I come from Catalonia.

You and your parents are American mate. You may eat your meals with a glass of wine at 10pm at night and use your hands when talking too much but it doesn't make you Catalan lol. In fact what is Catalan? Its Spanish mate. Not that its any of your concern but there's no such nationality. Franco won that and in the process piped down absolute tonnes(loads of kilogrammes) of your ancient ancestors.

But mate, seriously, you are American. You just follow Barcelona as you're searching for a footie(soccer) identity of your own and you see them win loads of games. The easy option but its ok I get it. In time you'll level off for a better club.

I like Americans a lot to be honest mate and am a bit offended by your slanderous(slanderos) accusations. Flagging that post and you'll be dealt with in time I hope.

Alright then, fine. I'm Spanish. Born in Spain. Parents born in Spain. Grandparents born in Spain. But I live in America. Hence, I'm Spanish-American, although those of us born in Catalonia tend to refer to ourselves as Catalan, and generally speaking people will refer to us as such when talking about us. Does independence concern me as much as it concerns my relatives who live in Spain? Probably not, but it's the attitude and opinion I've gotten from my parents who it also concerns. "Give me a child for his first seven years and I'll give you the man."

I follow Barcelona because it's the club my father and his father support. It's not the easy option, it's the only one.
